E Z crap fittings
« on: November 20, 2008, 03:45:00 pm »
Can someone please help me out here. I'm getting thru EZ snap fitting like there's no tomorrow. I know it's the female connection 100%. 1000,000%. Same problem every time. They sieze up a bit........almost definitely the bearings, so i WD40 them and they seem to be fine for all of a day, then they start siezing up again and leaking and we all know how bloody annoying that is,lol....... Whats' the answer??? Grease? Vaseline? I dunno. I buy them from a well known supplier on here and i aint blaming them. Their service has always been top notch. I'm just starting to wonder if Ez snaps are fit for the purpose they're meant to be. Any help, truly appreciated. Cheers gang.

We use Gardiners EZ snap fittings and they've lasted really well, better than anything else we've tried. I can count on one hand the occasions that the outer sleeve has stuck and just need a jiggle to get it going again, never had to grease them or any other lubrication. It seems you have been unlucky or i have been lucky. I would speak to the supplier personally if i were you.

Ive had them go but not daily, i think theyer fantastic, what on earth are you doing to them  ;D

I used to work at halfords and when bike repairs used to come in, we were always told never to use WD40 as i think its a water based product, it will do the job for a few days. I remember in the years of skateboarding, putting WD on my bearings made the wheels go seriously fast for a few days then knackered them

I think this may be the problem...using WD40 on them

They really dont need it

Think there are some Chinese ones about that fall apart. WD40 is not good for some applications because it tends to dissolve grease from bike chains etc.
Not water based though.

You have the FAKE 1`s for sure, they need to have made in germany on them and also say rectus 21 or there not the real deal. The fake 1`s last between a morning and a week if your very lucky.

Yeh NHW it's got the rectus 21 logo on them. Just for the record, i in no way blame the supplier,as mentioned above. Just the way it goes sometimes i guess. Even the protectaball aint got me out of this mess, lol.

same here.I have had similar experience with easi snap type fittings from various sources.None really seemed to last.I have found airline fittings much more robust and wd40 works  treat on em . Cheaper and more readily available. Bit on the heavy side tho

my ez snap fittings last a  good 6mths , but mine attach direct to pole trigger , so no dragging on floor , i have a protekta ball on the end of my hose , protects ez during winding in.

I have gone back to gardiners pro fittings much better than the ezy crap fittings.

I was using the pro fittings before the easy snap one's and found them excellent but changed to eazy snap as they connected straight to my triggers.

From day 1 i hated them and they didn't last at all.

The pro fittings are much much better and they don't break.
