Cleaned a large farm house yesterday, all windows frames, gutter fascias etc took around 2 and half hours. Before the customer paid me, she decided to walk round the whole house and inspect every single window before she would part with her cash!

Thankfully she seemed pleased, but I did worry she might say, no i'm not paying that.

Anybody else have custy's like this!!

Yeah all agreed before hand, but it seems to me that new customers in big houses seem to be more picky with parting with money than ones with a normal semi etc

well i always like to make sure my custies are happy with the work, so i always say to let me know if not happy.

Maybe she just wanted to check you had done all the work, maybe she was expecting you to take longer than you did.

You are so right, I am doing a large manor house tomorrow in & out £200 the place is worth 3.5 million and the blokes loaded, i phoned up today to book it in and he umed and arhed and said that it was very exspensive. It takes me 6 hours to do and has loads of fussy windows to do. For someone that probably earn's well over a million a year £200 to him is like a tenner to me, TIGHT GIT. ;D

I'd look on the bright side. She's checked your work out in detail and is happy.
You've put her mind at rest. It's a good thing, i think.
Well done for getting a 1st clean sparkling.

I tend to find fussy customers on first cleans turn out to be short duration customers who only really want a one , two or three cleans and dump you type of customer if past experience is anything to go by. Could be trouble for the future, time will tell.

If a new customer asks me to clean windows and wash/empty gutters and go to town on everything, alarm bells start ringing in my head that they after a make over just prior to selling their house, especially if everything is really dirty. I've known some customers resort to hiding the 'for sale' sign in their shed until after they've had the house cleaned ;D
Always ask customer if they want a 'one off' (i.e. end of tenancy clean, etc) or a regular clean and wait for their answer. If they reply they want a one off, I inform them that I'm sorry but i only take on work that's regular as stated on my website.

All well and good asking them if its a 'One Off' or a 'Regular' clean! I've had customers who have said they want regular, once the 1st clean is done I've then had a call to say they dont want them done anymore! what can you do? not alot really!

Price higher on initial cleans if windows are bad to reflect the extra time spent cleaning to bring them up to routine clean standard. I do, if they're bad I charge 150% and if they're minging I charge double, why not, it's your time they're paying for.

Already do that, my point is that a customer is a customer, whether they are one off's or regular, if they really want they're windows done just the once they will lie to get them done!

Well I have to say her windows had more cobwebs, than a nuns crutch. Infact the dirtiest i've come across so far, but she was pleased so can't complain, it was just the fact it took an extra 20 mins walking round for her to be happy with the end result.
She only wants the windows doing twice a year, so we will see what state their in, in 6 months time!!!

paying an amount that is worth 2.5 hrs to you will probably be quite an expense for the individual and it seems reasonable for them to check, as for all they know they pay you, and upon you leaving with their money they see you made a bit of a balls of the job (there are bogus workers) and after your gone he/she wont ever see you again.

I'd be pleased that she approved of your standard first time, as im sure if one of their neighbours comment on the work they will reccomend you.
See it as a plus and not a negative mate.
