I still visit and read on here, but there is so much boasting about ripping people off I'm just not interested anymore.
PJ,
I agree with the 'boasting' bit; my DIY pole post was in retaliation to some 'pole snobbery' I've experienced.
And then there's a certain amount of van snobbery, system snobbery, turn-over snobbery; and probably other sorts of snobbery too (and I always have disliked 'working-class snobs')... and I definately don't believe everything I read on this forum; but than again I never have.
But this site has always been like this; ever since I've been a member, and I was pretty much in the first fifty members to join.
I'm also not sure about the 'ripping people off' bit of your post though. If a job is quoted for and done to the required standard, and then payment is made, I can't see how anyone's getting ripped off.
My best job pays a lot, for a little bit of work, but prior to WFP it used to take two-of-us two-and-a-half hours to hand-bash lots of leaded windows. The job was so tough work, it was actually given to me by another window cleaner. But now, I can do the same job - by myself - in under an hour-and-a-half; yet I still charge the same money. Is anyone getting ripped off?
And of course old topics will get re-asked and re-hashed; but each time a new member may give a slightly different piece of advice; and as kit and equipment evolves; that may differ from the original question.
PJ,
Maybe you're turning into a 'gumpier old man' than you used to be?
