have read post i am very interested in what you are doing was wondering
how this sits with your insurance with the fact you are carrying an hazardous
material plus the installation of the heater not being installed by what would
be considered a competent person

used mine for the first time today

and have to say its the dogs b****ks and using hot water can not tell you how good that was

it was like when you first move over to W F P from ladders.

once you have used hot you would never want to go back to cold

its the best £120  i have ever spent
Where did you mount the heater Alan and how long did it take you to set it up.

Alan put a picture up on about page three, and because you posted this I went to have another look. He's made a really neat job of mounting it on the tank cage side near a sliding door.

This wouldn't suit me because my reel is mounted on top of the tank and exits out of this door, so it's a high traffic area.

Did you ask about the battery a while back NWH? And someone said there is only an auto igniter battery? Well that's true, but I can see what you were thinking if you have seen a dem of the brand leader in this. They have a powered flue which does require a battery. It is a very sophisticated system. These are simpler.

Yes Discount that is why i asked as i know a certain manufacturer does use a battery for the ignition,i have read that the L5 turns off the gas when water flow has stopped. Is there any chance of any more pics of it please, also do you have to turn off the gas after each job.

I don't use an L5 but had one that was similar. I think legally you should have the gas turned off while driving.

I don't agree with all the mods etc that nathaneal has made- clever as they are-. Why not just get a more robust and reliable heater?

Mine is  heavy on water usage, but is completely safe and utterly reliable.Mine does not have auto ignition (they are all electronic ignition, but the L5 does not have a pilot light because it's automatic, while mine does). From memory mines a Rinnai eu85e and cost £300.Trust me, this is a better option.

I have ordered an L5 just to see how it goes for the meantime,if it works well i`ll order a more robust 1.I like the fact that it comes on when the water starts flowing and turns off when it stops.

no,
on their wbsite when you order it, it asks if you want the heater sent as a gift, i think this helps get by the import tax.

They are not allowed to sell non ce marked gas heaters in the EU. Coming as as a gift avoids this.

Would that not then void your insurance if installing in a van  :-X

the heater only took one hour to set up and get running once you have made your mind up as to where its going to go
went to a B Q  and got all the bits and the rest is childs play

The CE mark doesn't apply to 12V motorhome appliances I'm told.
My heater is ISO approved, UKAS approved, Moody Approved etc etc,... good enough for me.

No, that's nothing to do with it. Anything over £18.00 coming from outside the EU is subject to duty and vat. An exception to that is if the item is a gift, then you are not charged.

The customs int his country are not so hot on CE markings anyway, the mark means nothing on its own anyway. If it was coming into the likes of Germany, now that would be a different matter.
