sick to death of turning on the news each morning and all you hear is recession recession !
talk about sending peole into a panic ! not seen its effect either.
Still, early January next year will be the proof maybe ?   :-\  xmas overspend and heating /fuel bills, we shall have to wait and see.

I've lost a few small accounts; one was from a couple who owns three other residences other than the one they live in.

Two they rent, the third they bought (probably at a good price at the time) at the peak of the housing market and it took them about 8 months to renovate the place.

Well they can't sell it, and the male part of the couple is a mortgage advisor, and I can only make an educated guess; but I bet he's struggling to make a living out of it.

It was in the news today that some estate agents are only making one-sale-per-week.

I also have a small hotel that's in the balance; and has been for many months; the previous owners have been made bankrupt and a management company has been appointed by the courts to 'baby-sit' the property and keep it ticking over till someone buys it.

So I don't think it's all 'nice 'n' shiny' out there; particularly for businesses that will struggle and low-end residential.

Well. i wont be having such a lavish xmas myself this year, cutting back on all the usual things like alcohol, mince pies over the xmas period. (trying to not put on weight this xmas the main reason, but the other is i cant afford it).

I just hope custies are more likely to cut back on food than they are on me :P

I've had two customers that have lost their jobs and a few that have cancelled or said leave it for a while but this whole thing hasn't really kicked off yet.

It will be a long time washing through, years probably. Nothings going to happen immediately.

Lloyd, if you are still on - did you ever follow up on that private hospital?

I've had one customer go to 8-weekly, that's it so far.

Lets face it, it's the flashy cocky gits with the big commercial work and large domestic that will lose more. ;D

What can I lose?
A few domestics worth £10-20 or so? ???
Just replace them with better priced work.

Some people may lose £200+ offices.
Shouldn't laugh... ;D :-X

Had one today that cancelled until April, A nice lady that lives alone and admits she's struggling.
I'm glad I still have my little insurance policy of too many customers, I would have to lose 20%of my round before it would affect me financially, I hung on to them just in case.

These guys that start up and undercut dont last long. If they do, then they drop the customer they took from you, as they realise they priced too cheaply. Its that point when they ask you back, you increase the price.

any customer worth their salt, wont drop you for another on price alone. They will at very least try to reduce your rates.

You get for what you pay these days. You want a service with no quibble 100% satisfaction guarantees and a fully insured and professional w/c  you pay more for it, you want a monkey you pay peanuts.
