What system do Chem Dry use?
« on: September 21, 2008, 09:33:30 pm »
Have been doing some homework on the oposition, and locally that is mainly a Chem Dry franchise.

I am interested in what kind of system they use as a potential customer was refering to them last week.

I see from a website its some kind of a rotary which i believe uses carbonated water?? I also see on one particular website it was linked to some kind of extractoin hose??

A brief overview of their system, and how it works would be greatly appreciated.

regards and thanks

Paul

All I know is that recently we did jobs for 2 custys who used them, and both said how vastly better we were than them.

Their machines have 2 pumps and they use 2 chemicals which mix at the head and create Carbon Dioxide (bubbles) which drives the dirt to the top of the carpet where it is extracted away.
It all started when a Mormon guy sprayed a soda syphon onto a wine spill and it came off. It was probably just the water but he thought it was the bubbles and a multi billion dollar business was born.

Kev I'm sure you are good at your job but I do think that CD get a kicking sometimes because of their stature and prices.

The trouble is when you start employing people to do the work then the quality does suffer sometimes, you have to look the part and act the part be agony aunty and sometimes be prepaired to be a MR fix it as customers will ask you to do the most unusual things. If you were working for someone would you always go out of your way to do some of this and try and be home for tea?

Getting back to the question, CD are using TM's with a carbonated mix, the TM as I believe have 200psi pumps, loads of heat, the power of an entry level TM and a chamber to mix solution A to B to create the bubbles, the power head which is hardly used by most operators is an RX20 clone.

Nothing new really as you can't reinvent the wheel but you CAN remarket it!!

Chem Dry uses the same systems as any other professional carpet cleaner if you look on youtube for them youll see them demonstrate there system, one video shows them using RX20 and a truck mount .

No they don't. Their system is unique and patented. Doesn't mean its better.[

Cheeky cow over the road from me asked me to quote for her carpets, then a few weeks later a chem dry van rolled up outside!

He had a machine sat outside the front door that was no bigger than a decent spotting machine or hot solvent extractor.  It didn't make much noise, so it must have been pants :)

The Chemdry guy in Chesterfield uses a Rhino Porty and carries his own water in lots of 25 litre containers  ??? the mind boggles - I know this because I watched him cleaning my neighbours suite before I got my own kit.

The chemdry tm is not a spitfire it may have been at one time but they have taken away anything that would make it a good machine leaving something pretty pants it has a compressor rather than a pump to pressurise a and b tanks forcing the contents out through the solution lines. Something to think about though is the fact that any brass connectors on the machine have been changed out for stainless, this is due to the fact that their solution is so corrosive it was eating through the brass far too quickly!
