Why don't window & carpet cleaners advertise there prices on there websites, well most of them anyway.

Simple answer start your price with eg: Windows & Frames cleaned for £8 per month based on a standard 3 bed semi.

i can see your point, but in my town i can get a good price in one area and in another area it is only an acceptable price, therefore i dare not advertise a bottom line, or dont want to....... i would rather someone call me to give them a quote , rather than see my bottom line and phone someone else..... as i would then be able to explain my services would be second to none blah blah blah.... if you see what i mean.

what kind of three bed semi's exist in your neck of the woods.

i get where you are coming from, but i have standard semis... i have lucrative areas.... standard semis,....

then i have ok areas, standard semis....

then i have poorer areas.... standard semis.

they all are priced differently... but a minimum charge does apply....but only in my mind.... for the poorer areas..

if i advertised my minimum charge....

then the lucrative areas would expect the same as the poorer  araes.

the new are priced up accordinlgly..... but they wont neccesarily be the same price as the estate around the corner....


you asked about prices, .. we are giving our opinions, ...and i am sure most people would agree , all semis are not the same....

plus customrs think a 3 bed semi with leaded windows would be 8 quid or what ever for the same as next doors without! because they dont understand till you tell them.

anyway like my house a standard three bed semi no dormer windows or bay windows then you look over the road again 3 bed semi but with dormer windows harder to reach. Then look down the bottom of the road again a 3 bed semi slightly bigger 2 top bay window  1 bottom bay windows etc french doors at the back.

so obv the dormer house and bay window house is going to be more    but there all standard 3 bed semi's specially to the customers eyes.

then of course theres accses around the property? surely? if theres lots of trees and bushes all over the front that going to take longer moving ladders about or poles and hoses etc.

list goes on. Thats my thoughts anyway

Thats seems to be a headache for us because we cant keep our prices transparent.

Theres also normal friendly windows, then theres georgian, then theres leaded; I also take into consideration access to property, any ladder work necessary amongst other things, gut feeling comes into too....

plumber available.... only £50 minimum for average sink installation.

joiner available..... £30 minimum for an average door fit.

electrician....... only £100 for 6 sockets.

Again no such thing as a bulk standard 3 bed. I have lived in numerous 3 bed properties and none have had the same number of windows as any of the others.
