Question for those using multiple website marketing
« on: August 19, 2008, 06:26:06 pm »
I see that several CCs on here are using the multiple websites approach for marketing, up to 14 in some cases, Kev Loomes, Doug Holloway, Shaun Ashmore to name a few.

Can you guys offer some feedback as to how many enquiries you are getting, for instance I have just the one site (needs a lot of work still) but lets say I had 2 or 3 sites, all optimised and giving a good, clear message to the reader, what increase in enquiries can I expect per extra website?

Do you not find the same customer just posts the same enqirey to all your websites thinking each is a different CC company?

Obviously this must be working for you guys, can those using this approach give some advice and reasoning behind it.

Also what about costs involved, web hosting for example with a reliable service costs me about £14 per month for the one site.

Any advice much appreciated

I have 13 url's heading to 2 sites ........... one is template based that i run (£29.99 for WebStyler and £4.99 for 2 years with name) and the other is done by Mark Roberts (for one off cost including SEO which gets me onto 1st page of Google on many specific searches).

Have had customer say that 8 out of 10 results on one page, were to me once  ;D

All roads lead to Rome.......... or so they say  ;)

I have 2 but the only thing I do get from No.2 is the same web enquiry as I get from No.1, invariably one will be better than the other, if they were that good having multiples then I would have 100's.

Just a case of the more stones you throw, the more chance one of them is gonna hit.  Some sites can give a better response purely because Google deems it better suited, even if another site can be better due to links etc. It's not an exact science.

For instance, one of my sites has 134 No 1 Google positions for various terms (and with a good linking programme), but some of my others will come up just as good for different search terms even though there are no links.

I paid about £50-60 for the year and I can host as many websites as I want (17 at present 3 non related) ;D

We have two quality sites, using seperate e mail addresses, both pr 3, at the moment. :)

Pointing a lot of urls at one site can damage the main URL title site though.

Kev made a good point, "It's not an exact science."
A lot of the sites I compete against don't deserve their position. But their up there.
(Not saying Edinburgh)
Age of domain name certainly seems to play a large factor.

Derek. I think there are 2 people who can help you, Mark Roberts and Chris Boswell.

I have Chris's details if you like?

Hi Guys

I have over 100, some generic such as www.leatherclean.co.uk and others which cover my area so on any particular seach I have several chances of 'being chosen'

I also have a number of sites with other CC's using them on a commision basis, some good , some not so good !

I also have a few fledgling shop sites.

About 40 of my sites are not even started yet as I am too busy cleaning carpets as a result of having so many sites.

I  have a couple of  beauty treatment sites, yes I know I don't need it, ::) fencing, plumbing etc.

I also have www.wembley2018.net in case we get to stage the World Cup and www.thegreenolympics.com which I will push for London 2012.

Cheers

Doug

On average about 20 enquiries a month. Most enquiries turn into jobs because i advertise my prices on my site.

I tried Google Adwords too, unless you have a bucket load of spare marketing money stay well clear.

The ROI was a joke.

Getting jobs from websites is very difficult you have to make your site sticky meaning (your potential or current customers have a valid reason to return for example to make an online payment for your services etc...

There is no such thing as a cheap good web developer unless there going to do out of the goodness of there heart.
