new round wfp?
« on: July 23, 2008, 01:48:06 pm »
;D Hi i am a traditional window cleaner but i am thinking about buying a new round with the wfp system, this is only used for the ups, atm with 2 people i can normally earn about £400 a day this works out at about 30-35 houses and im finished by 4oclock!, im not sure if the wfp would benefit me - is it really quicker?? i have never used one before so am not convienced that its really any good i have heard good and bad about it, the new round would cost me £10,000 and will be worth on average £2400 on a monthly basis he says he gets £200 a day, any advice will be great!  :)
thanks in advance

WOW 400 a day and you want to earn more  ;D

OK I changed over to the pole about 2 years ago, Its been the best move I made and I would NOT go back...

But there are ups and downs

You will be quicker with the pole but not a first and not on all properties. The WFP is a tool and there are times that its not going to do the job.... You need to learn what jobs will save you time and what jobs will not

big question .... is it quicker with wfp ......
i do both trad and wfp, but the wfp only comes out on office blocks where h&s is a big concern
in my opinion a good trad w/c is faster than anyone using a pole system.
im not blowing my own trumpet but ive never met any w/c with a pole who is faster than me with my ladder FACT
dont get me wrong wfp has its good points ... its a lot safer and ... its a lot safer... and its a lot safer but apart from that a trad w/c leaves a much better finish a trad w/c can give the cills a good wipe down and get the bird crap off properly, the pole just doesnt do that

W.F.P not faster on domestic  ::)

Its funny you should mention that I had a race with a Trad window cleaner about 3 weeks a go and I was on the secand house before he was  ;D

he asked if he could inspect my work and I said yes and he admited that the window and sills were all cleaned, a perfect job..

But the house he went to next was a ex-customer of mine the WFP did a terrible job on it spots everywhere...

If your happy with trad stay trad, But Wfp does work and when it does it does a better job as I have said It can be all the good things its made out to be but it has its limits, Some times faster some times not  ;)

LMAO = Laugh my "backside" off
IMO = In my opinion
They are both used. Where are you based Ever clean?  Do you fancy a race?! Me with my wfp and you with your ladders. I am quite confident that I would win. Even Terry Burrows admitted that for every day window cleaning involving other than ground floor work that wfp was quicker

ok ive got 2 identical blocks of 4 3 storey town houses in hale cheshire and im willing to race you any time mate you would not stand a chance unless you can do a block in less than 20 mins
you see there are window cleaners who plod on and there are window cleaners like myself who are old school laddermen with over 20 years on a ladder
ive probably forgot more about window cleaning than youll ever know ;D

I imagine you would be disappointed. In the time it took you to get the ladder set up to the first window I would already be working and ahead. Don't forget that as soon as I finish a window I just move straight onto the next window while you would have to descend the ladder move it and climb again. How could that be quicker?
You can do a block of 4 - 3 floor town houses in 20 mins? Excuse me a min while I just get back up off the floor! I haven't read something so funny in ages! Right then these houses, I assume there are two windows on each floor front and back   so thats 12 per house. Multiply that by 4 and that gives you a grand total of 48 windows. 20 mins = 1200 seconds. Divide 1200 (seconds) by 48 (windows) and  you will see that means that you must clean a window every 25 seconds. That is  including setting up, climbing the ladder, cleaning the window, descending the ladder again and then moving the ladder to the next window. If you think you can do all that in 25 seconds then fair enough but I don't believe it.  If you look at Terry Burrows record  he can clean a window (at record breaking speed) in 9.24 seconds. That was him at ground level with no ladder to worry about. If you are able to go at that speed yourself then that would leave you just over 15 seconds for setting up, climbing and descending the ladder. If you can do that then you should be at the olympics not a window cleaner!

you see... on the rear of the houses they have individual gardens how do you get over ? do you go back to your van for a ladder? or do you quote a few statistics at the fence and hope youll fly on the front you have a balcony at first floor level i just drop on to it on my way down  what would you do ? i suppose you would knock on the door and explain to the customer that your a toy window cleaner who talks a good job then proceed to give the client EVERCLEANS phone  number ;D

Lol you are cracking me up. So let me get this right, Now in the 25 seconds that you have  per window you are now saying that includes fence jumping? If you can go that fast then you should go to the cleaning show and enter the window cleaning comp. Seriously if you can go at that speed then I am sure you can take the record. You seem to of missed the point of what I was saying and now think that you are being clever by moving the goalposts. I truly believe that any competent wfp'er would be faster on straight forward window cleaning with no access issues.

im not blowing my own trumpet but ive never met any w/c with a pole who is faster than me with my ladder FACT

You make it quite clear there that you think that you are in general you are faster than any wfp'er. I disagree simple as that. You mention that you use wfp is this you in action?:
h ttp://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XW0okZ10O0M
If that was the speed that most of us worked then yes I could well see you being quicker and yes I agree in SOME situations trad can be quicker (it's all about choosing the right tool for the job) but in general the FACT is that wfp is quicker.
on the front you have a balcony at first floor level i just drop on to it on my way down  what would you do ?
Its all swings and roundabouts, I have lots of places with cons. on I could argue what do you do about the windows above that? Maybe it would be you knocking on the door ? Don't bother giving them my number though, it's a bit far to travel up there for me.
Regarding a race I don't wish to travel all the way up to you just to prove a point so hopefully a wfp'er nearer to you will take up the challenge and report back (anyone?). If there are no takers though then maybe I will have to.

you keep referring to 25 seconds per window... but again your making assumptions about how many windows this proves just how blinkered you are

also you are very easy to wind up arent you
id love to work with you, i would have you crying by 10am, and wanting to go home by dinner time

Hardly blinkered just talking in general and basing it on some 3 floor town houses I have. How many windows per house then?  I would love to work with you too! Crying though, doubt it. Laughing yes.
