Lol!!! Being serious don't you find it a pain having such a long hose on your pole? I found that I would get it tangled all the time! Also you mention it cracking in winter what pole hose is this? I use the clear stuff I got from omnipole and have never had that problem!
it wasn't as much of a pain as knocking over £300 statues and breaking the arms off.

To be honest i have got used to it and have learnt how to work with it now.
What i like about the pole hose is that it is very light and when it does get snagged it won't overpower whatever it is snagging on.
I also carry the pole with the opposite end of the brush lowered to the floor if i'm moving around where there are lots of obstacles or flowers etc. SO when it does snag it doesn't tip anything over as it gets caught up along the floor rather than high up. And with plants or flowers, it catches around the bottom of the stem which are sturdier than the flower bit at the top.
i went through a phase of my van looking like a flower delivery van due to all the heads of flowers i would pick up and stash so the owners didn't notice.

Fortuntely, those days have pretty much gone now as i'm quite adept at it nowadays.
I haven't tried the stuff from omnipole, i use the stuff from gardiners. The problems i had with splitting was where the plastic end cap would come off the pole and it would chafe along the sharp edges of the pole.
