I bought an autobrush just over two years ago

It stopped working a few months ago ( the o rings inside the mechanism have worn through)

I still use the brush though, ( A salmon) but without the on / off switch

Hey I just realized!!! two years using the same brush? :o

Is this some soft of cleanitup record? ;D ;D

You cant get a better recommendation than that Pete ;D ;D

Ian

Thanks Ian, there is still some sour grapes from some people.  This extract was brought to my attention by a very happy Autobrush user, it can be found on ebay at  cgi.ebay.co.uk/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250250835803..

"NO HAVING TO BASH A FLIMSY MECHANISM ON YOUR BRUSH AGAINST A WALL TO TURN YOUR WATER ON/OFF!!!"

The cheek of some people, imagine trying to compare an on off valve with an Autobrush.  Now normally I wouldn't bring this up on a forum, but seeing as it is a direct attack at my product then I will, and here is what I think of the valve advertised.   A complete wast of time.   For a start you have to fasten it on to every section of pole you want to hold, Imagine adding and taking away sections, not to mention all that hose you would need to have flapping around in front of the pole.  I could go on and on and on, but I don't really think there is any need.

Peter

I have just read the listing I have a tap at the mo, waiting for the auto brush to test it out.

There is no need for Andrew to have made that comment and I am shocked by it as far as I am aware your the only person that has the autobrush. IMO I think it needs rewording.

Is this not a tit4tat comment  :-\

I probably over reacted a bit last night when I read it.  I was a bit surprised especially when I have read all the comments on here about him being such a nice guy.   It may not even have been him that wrote it.

Yes I am the only one that does anything that turns the water on and off at the brush, so I know it was directed at the Autobrush.   As far as tit for tat goes, it is well know that I personally don't like the valves, but there is quite a few people doing them, including me for anyone who insists they want one for whatever reasons.

I used the autobrush but couldn't get on with it, but no need for another supplier to personally rubbish it.
BTW, that valve is exactly the same one I now use and find them excellent, but I got mine including tails from a local hydraulics company for £5 :o :o :o

John if you don't mind me asking, what didn't you like about it?  It is just that I have been working on what some might think as a significant improvement.

Yes a cheque is fine.

Yours is on the way Ian, I should have though you would have got it by now.  If it dosn't come in the morning let me know.  I lost one last week and will have to go through all the hassle of claiming compensation.  The PO is going right down hill, I will have to look for another small package service.

Peter,
Just a couple of points, one of which I think you have solved.
1) I seemed to keep catching the bar all to easily when cleaning recessed/corner windows and kept switching the water off.
2) Valve sticking and needing frequent dismantling/cleaning.

1 -  might just be me being to heavy handed
2 - Think thats the one you solved.

Not knocking it, it's just I find the on/off valve I use now better for me

Thanks for that John, did you have a plastic toggle on your valve?  If so the problem you described is eliminated with the new metal toggle.  The other problem of switching off accidental is solved as well.  I am still doing tests at the moment, but everything is looking good.  I was talking to a chap on the phone today and like me he has not got a problem with it accidentally switching off, most people get used to it, but if I can make it better for the ones who have or may have a problem in the future, then I will.

People who have just received their brush recently may be wondering why they didn't get the new improved brush, but it has still to be fully tested, it may have disadvantages elsewhere, but I have not came accross any.  I will really need someone who uses the Autobrush all the time to test it out and give me some feedback on the new design.  I will be sending one out to a couple of my forum members shortly to get some feedback.

Knock away John, it is the only way that I can find out what people don't like and sort it out.

Thanks for the feedback.

Peter ,
Yes it was the plastic toggle one, must have been well over a year ago now so obviously things have improved :)

I actually caused that problem myself by replacing the pin that goes through the toggle with a stronger one, that didn't even need replaced in the first place.  What was happening was the galvanise on the pin was breaking down after about 3 months and the rust was falling down into the mechanism.  It took me a while to suss it out, and cost me a fortune in replacement valves.

Id have contributed earlier to this thread except after buying a new PC a couple of weeks ago and installing my old ISP settings onto it after 2 weeks it suddenly seemed it wasnt such a good idea, so Ive been without internet connection for a week.

However, I would just like to report my opinion and findings regarding Peters auto-brush.

Firstly, Peter, thanks for the refund cheque for the over payment.

Anyway, my experience so far of WFP has been limited to 4 months with a Vikan Square brush. Lots of people on here say for them its their workhorse brush, does a fair job, tough and generally delivers the goods.

The brush with Peters setup was a Salmon. Interesting colour, bright blue!

The brush at first seemed rather soft, possibly I thought not up to much, a bit too much of a pansy at first I thought. But I LOVED the auto part of the setup. It didnt take long for that to become something that I loved being able to use nad felt almost from the owrd go that it was an indispensible part of the whole window-cleaning experience. Id say once I was into my second day with that feature things were beginning to look up.

But the brush just didnt seem to be something I was comfortable with.

Then... !

I did a clean that I thought might need the Vikan to be brought out of retirement, so on she went and by God it was like trying to drive a car without power-steering after driving a top of the range BMW.

I love that blue Salmon now, so easy to use. In love with it. The brush and the auto feature. How ever did I get on without it all before?

So far Ive also found the build to be pretty good, dont know how itll fair in my clumsy heavy handed way, but satisfactory anyway Id say.

Thanks.

Matt
