Thanks for your help on this Dave.

Would that refer to a 2001 model too?

just get the reg and phone your local VW comefcail dealership tomorrow, they will tell you if its a 800 or 1200 on the phone

looks like a nice enough van

i know the car auction at newport just had a load of ex AA T4's in, some went at 3.8 K plus VAT ( 03 plate ), of course some went for the 5.5 K aswell ( 04 and 05 plate )

Well, after phoning every insurance company west of moscow!  They all insist there is no such van as
VW T4 1.9tD swb 1200.  They say VW only do that model in 800 or 1000 (which is not a model but refers to the kg carrying capacity).
However
I have been in touch with VW given them the model, reg no., the chassis no., the engine no.  And they have a "Dialogue Sheet" for that exact vehicle and guess what?  It was released from factory as 1200!
However
Insurance companies won't recognise genuine vw dialogue sheets!  Mad world!
I have to insure it as a different model.

Anyway off I go now to do the deal

I thought the payload was on a plate/sticker around the driver door area (on my Dispatch), which also gives the max loads for the front and rear axles.

Nope, it comes as a 1200 too!

Nope, no evidence anywhere on vehicle or documents

I cleaned up under the bonnet today and revealed the chassis plate which states clearly the payload.

Sure enough 1200kg!  I am a happy bunny for a change.
