Its funny.  Whenever I get asked for a price over the phone( without seeing the property first) I know that the owners are going to be tight.

Had a call last week. "Can you give me a price for doing the windows on my house.  A 4 bedroom cottage?"

'I'll pop up and give you a quote if you like.'

Well the last window cleaner wanted £50 which was way too much."

I went and had a look.  The house was a very old LARGE farmhouse, not a cottage.  Huge sash windows that look like would topple out at any minute, bad flaky paint on all of them and a conservatory too.

So I quoted £50.  With the conservatory.  Funnily enough she hasnt got back to me. ;D ;D

I should give her the number of clear view and she can pay £4

I've got 2 bed houses on my round with considerably more work on than some of the three beds. In some cases what would be seven climbs on a two bed house as opposed to 3 climbs on a three bed if I were still using ladders. I've been misled so many times by prospective customers wanting a knock down price, so I price everything individually and only when I've seen what I'm expected to do.
