MacMac, had you been a successfull window cleaner i think the painters and decorators should listen to you.

I've reread earlier and sorry for being insulting- if you weren't there to argue with this would have been a very short conversation.

I wasn't a solictor,no.i haven't read lee Iaccocas book (boss of ford i think or gm) but that is the sort of thing I would enjoy reading.

I don't really care about winning arguments, i'm interested in exploring ideas. Window cleaning is great for this because of it's simplicity. It is just the same as other businesses, the trick is transfering the things that work for wc.And that's what Davo and I are pushing.

Nice one Mr.Sol.
I wasn't insulted & your spot on with-
"the trick is transfering the things that work for wc.And that's what Davo and I are pushing."
That has been my point, that you can't assume all your previous business knowledge will apply to w/c & this is what i thought you though. I don't see it as a winning arguments game either, it's debate, we all put our points across in differing ways & i'm probably the worst at doing this sometimes. My posts sometimes come across as agressive but they're not meant to be taken that way (i do have a habit of expressing my veiws strongly at times). Without different oppinions & the different ways we express them in text it would get boring sometimes.
Both you & davo have many good ideas to share, if i don't agree with some then i'll post about it & i'll admit i'm guilty of getting on my high horse at times, ok, most of the time, ok, always, oh sod it, i'm an arse :(
I also like to put a bit of humour in too. ;)

About 2 hours ago. It's my birthday tomorrow so I'm having a day off, if there is such a thing as having a day off when you're self employed.

The discussion earlier about getting the same job done for a fraction of the price. I've converted an old carpet cleaning machine to suck out the gutters for probably £3k less than the book price of some. There's enough suction in those machines to do it, all i do then is connect the tubes to the pole system and the jobs a good un.

Some people seem to equate hours worked with being a hard worker, but my last job in a factory doing data input i was taking home £195 for 40 hours. Starting at 6am and finishing at 2. People close to me like friends and family were congratulating me for getting off my arse and taking the job.
Now i've got wfp i do this and more between 6 and 7 hours (only a few days a month admittedly) and people mention i'm slacking cos i've done what was a weeks work traditonally by tuesday. Though i don't finish on tuesday.
I'm a long way from filling my time up with window cleaning but with the right kit, the right work and an attitude to get it over with asap, there seems little point (to me personally) in not taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy my free time. At least until i can fill it more with equally lucrative paying work, rather than taking on every bit of work that has been offered to me for twice the hours and only an extra quarter of the money.
