Yes macmac I agree, you are a genius; trapped in the mind of an idiot

Maybe i'm an idiot trapped in a genius ;D ;D ;D

Mr.Sol, i'm not personalising anything, i just see your big revelations as the norm, or common sense. if you're dissapionted 'cos you're maybe not as "revolutionary" as you first thought then, sorry.

I am a bit of a know all in real life, but not too bad. I'm somewhere between popular and alright in small doses. You don't see me impose  my opinions too much on the bits I'm unsure of like operations. I read the posts of helen, trev knight, or people generally of more experience like everyone else does.

I do have a back story, we all do.I'm a disgraced solicitor, I turn up sometimes, they say- you defended me, now you're cleaning my windows- I say I promise  I'll  do a better job this time....

At last Mr Sol, so your not much different to the rest of us after all, you haven't spent a fortune on your set up, you have a mid sized van with a more expensive system than most, and hot water. Why post such complicated explanations to everything, just drop down to our level and i'm sure we can all get on fine. Your just misunderstood at times. :)

I can very often suss a person out by their posts, get to know what they're like, their level of experience, if they tend to tell porkys etc. i'm very good at this in real life too.
BUT, i must say you are one of my hardest candidates to date Mr.Sol. & i'm still unsure what to make. I'll just have to keep reading for now! ;)

I think its like watching a soap opera in writing, i have been following each episode without commenting and its ace!.

i love it,.. its good hearted banter with a lot of one upmanship going on,

between colleagues,  and this is good humoured, light hearted togue in cheek stuff which shows how bright and quick witted you all are

So  whats the concensus from the long term pros( over 5 years trading).

Is it fair to assume that in order to earn £800 a week all you need to do is turn up clean their windows , smile a bit, and they wont give a jot if your car/ van coughs smoke all over the place.

Does cutting back on expenditure also mean you dont need to use toothpaste, deodorant or razor blades.

Oh and instead of all the expense of printing would it be ok to write a contact name on bits of scrap paper, or torn off fAg packets?

If i have to  shave costs to the bone to be successful can anyone else tell me what i dont need.

sorry about this but "the bigger the investment the bigger the return" is NOT a busines fact. Is the solicitor bit true  ??? you didnt defend me ever did you  ??? ???  .If you find sledging hard to deal with i will lay off ,however you come across like a man who has swallowed lee iacoccas biography. We all have different reasons why we do this job.I found it a cheap way to set up a business that paid a living wage and it has become more than that now .Also(i know you should not start a sentence with also ok) it meant that i could change my job without going through the humiliating "previous convictions" crap(none of your busines but lets clear the air eh?) which turns up on every application form.So i like the freedom i get from window cleaning and if bills are paid i feel no need to aspire to much more, except extra cash if i can be bothered

Davo, i think you missed the point of the very first question of the first episode :o
Which i started with the question who's got his head screwed on? If an accomplished windowcleaner can operate with a basic dirt cheap set up producing the same results as a mega-expensive outfit doing domestic, who has got it right? Is there really any point in spending all that dosh for the same end product?

The best thing is to not assume your business skills from another trade will apply to this one. don't assume you already know it all. Acknowledge i'm the undisputed best & you may well just make it. ;)

imho NO, you dont need to spend big money when a el-cheaper system will do the EXACT same job

Mac Mac, what I dont understand is how this business differs so much from any other one. Thats an honest statement BTW.

Please could you enlighten me.

I think each to their own,
hot or cold,

we all clean windows and aspire to do it , and work the best way we can,  if you have a tank , any type... a pump , a pole and power to send it to a window.

Then you are water fed pole window cleaning, working for yourself, up and running.

After you have done that, ........then its up to each individual how far they take the business,....  stay happy with your lot or strive to be the best you can.

Its what makes each individual unique.

And it is purely choice,

Gary.

I've been WFP for 5 years. I've improved much more than when I first started with WFP. I'm very quick and confident now, I never use to be when I first started.

I enjoy coming on here reading posts, despite a lot of the same old questions being asked repeatedly. But once in a while a few bright sparks with a different way of thinking and with plenty of fresh ideas come along and get me thinking and trying /using their new ideas. I'm never too old to learn new things and am always open to new ideas.

There are many differences davo & too many varients to discuss. That's why some of these posts are so entertaining when looking in from an experienced view.

Imagine me going onto a painter & decorators forum & after being in the business for 6 months suggesting to them that they're all going about their business the wrong way. what they need is a nitrous oxide injected van & carbon fibre brushes!

Seriously though

From what i've read on here and I am new, most of it is areally good exchange of ideas to help each other
But seems to me no good comes from implying you've got some superior knowledge that you can't share yet because people arent ready for it. And thats how I read this.

Mind you I dont know much I'm just trying to pick it up
