Alex, don't suppose you would have a close up shot of the pole surface of your test pole? I'm just wondering how it's wearing? If it's like the S2 then it would have a bumpy surface due to the carbon weave. Have you had to tighten the clamps at all? Does the surface scratch easily?

What - show the faults of a product, how dare you!

The oldest prototype is in the other work vehicle, I will try and take some shots of it early next week. As with any product it can scratch, but this pole is still in amazing condition. It has been used constantly for 8 months, 4 days a week and shows very little wear. I will try and show this on a close-up photo.

Alternatively pop down and I'll let you have a look for yourself!!

During the 8 months we have had to tighten the clamps up slightly, as you would expect, but only by about 10% of its total adjustment range.

I'll get my bike out of the shed - be with you in a minute. So how durable are you expecting a pole like this to be in the hands of a clumso like me? Would it compare favourably with anything currently on the market or would you have to take into account the fact that it is much lighter than anything else? i.e. is durability compromised a little because of lightness?

Ultimately we do not know how long it will last as we have only given it hard testing for 8 months.  All we know is that after 8 months it is still well within it's usable lifespan.  We have designed this pole with longevity in view and also strength to withstand normal use and abuse.  No strength has been sacrificed to achieve it's lightness.  Obviously it's durability is far superior to any fibre glass/hybrid pole on the market but as regards other poles, time will tell but I am very confident. 

If you want ultimate long life - go for an aluminium pole such as the Brodex Prolong or Omnipole Powerpole.  The price you pay with aluminium poles is greatly increased weight (100% heavier) and increased flex.

We have taken the step of having aluminium clamps manufactured. These are about 30% lighter than equivalent nylon/plastic clamps and are many times stronger.

Does the tip have the usual threaded end bonded in, or will it have the kind of tip on the S2 ?
