Tell him he's missed his slot and you'll do it after Christmas.

This time of year, I take on new customers but very rarely do them until the New Year - this generally sorts the 'I'll get them done just for Xmas' Merchants - I have enough problems trying to fit all my regulars in as it is.  There are some I will do but you usually get a good feeling about them continuing on after Xmas.

Apart from 4 jobs, I don't pre-arrange work.  When I occasionally do need to, the conversation will be about someone leaving access for a particular day - NOT about me fitting into a timeslot during the day in order to find the customer in.  If he wants an individual appointmentr time, maybe he should get his doctor to clean his windows.

With some customers , usually female, its a power thing. Its never convenient to do the windows when you want. You have to do them when they want. That way it establishes who is in charge.

Sorry, but when I call you the night before it is to say I am cleaning in the morning and not for you to say call me next week, I cannot work like this. I am unable to clean you windows this week as you will be off round. So it will be in ......weeks time.
I will call again the night before but if it is not right for you again I will have to remove your from our cleaning rounds as we have other customers that want a regular service.

Have a nice christmas and I will call you in the new year.

Bye.

now he will either cancel there and then or will know you mean business and wait. If he does the same again drop him from your round, I tend to give 1 chance if this happens.

Stab him to death, dismember his lifeless corpse and put the body parts on pikes in his garden >:(

Or you could just explain he's missed his chance and you'll be back in Jan ;D

Both are good for me :-\
Just like that

The thought of walking down a street and seeing all those body parts on spikes at differnet properties  ;D ;D
Mind you would warn other wc's of the "perils" and would make other custies behave themselves :o

What a great way of trimming down on bad customers!

as shiner says dont get into the trap of ringing to arrange work in first place unless of course access is an issue ( and it has to be a real issue for me like electrified fences or rabid dobermans)also the new year line is good for sorting out the chancers who start ringing 2 or 3 weeks before xmas if they say thats no good dont bother if they say jan is ok i sometimes try and fit em in. Personally tho if a customer told me "not today" on the eve of first clean after i took trouble to ring him i would have dropped him there and then .Gut feeling is usually right
