« on: November 22, 2007, 08:59:28 am »
Hi all,

is it normal to get water running down the pole when cleaning?
Sometimes it does not happen, but yesterday my guy was soaked and I promised him I would ask on here even if it makes me look stupid, Any help ?

Have tried near windows away from windows, I dont know the answer hes looking for so thought I would ask

First of all check to make sure that there is no split in the tubing.  I find that more of a goose neck to get the brush a little further from the pole helps to keep you drier, even if it's just a swivel on an angle adapter.

Have you got a flow valve tap fitted on your pole? to switch the water on and off if so make sure all the bolts are tightened up

just a thought

The angle of the brush head.

The more it points towards the vertical the wetter you will become.

What brush are you using ?

Cut a hole in a plastic funnel and fit near the top as a dripstop.

I know i tend to state the bleeding obvious sometimes.....but so far i've heard it could be the brush, could be the on/off valve...........could be this, could be that. Now after 2 years of wfp i reckon i know the answer.............I reckon...it's water........... ;D

its definately the angle of the brush, if you have the platic adjustable gooseneck make the brush is angled so that the bristles are flat on the glass or even pointing slightly down, then the water runs down the glass and not down the pole.

Were shall we cut this hole dear jeffrey, dear jeffrey where shall we cut this hole?
Theres already two in it a big un and a small un, If we put any more holes in it it won't be a funnel it will be a hole with a bit of plastic around it. LOL ;D

angle of brush head is wrong if you are getting wet from water running down your WFP. Extend it, Funnel it away or fit a fixed gooseneck.

i use a standard fiberglass 18ft pole with a brush on an angle adaptor. Havent ever had a problem with water running down the pole its allways dry.
if the flows not high enough - it could be running out the jets straight down the pole.

Its defo the Y peice as ive had the same problem and i only found out when my leg was getting wet all the time.
The water runs down the the pipe inside your pole and only comes out at the base of the pole..

I hear that if you angle the brush slightly upwards it helps to rinse the window as the muck exits the bristles at the roots thereby the brush stays cleaner and does not deposit muck from the glass back onto the glass. However this may result in water running down the body of the pole.
If you angle the brush head slightly downwards the muck off the window may be deposited back onto the glass so you would have to rinse for longer.
What i would and do do (not dodo) is angle the brush downwards and lift off to rinse.
Hope this helps.

Theres a hole in my funnel dear Steven dear Steven- a hole  :D

If the poles dia is say 1" then cut the neck off the funnel so that you have a 1" hole, feed the funnel upside down onto the pole, if its slack just wrap a bit of tape to seal the gap. Water runs down outside of funnel and drips off edge.
