Looking at another thread and it struck me that you guys with hot water systems could really target conservatory roof cleaning surely much more effective on really filthy roofs than cold water?

The  guys with hot water systems can target everything to do with exterior cleaning more effectively than cold water , conservatory roof cleans facias soffits cladding even windows.

Its hot water IN GENERAL CUSTOMERS  WILL CHOOSE  HOT WATER CLEANING OVER COLD WATER.

That would depend on the person selling the service to them and the quality of work they do IMO

a bit of TFR and you dont even need the hot water it just comes off with one pass of the brush

i am cold water me self. Hot water would seem to be better, after all we don't wash dishes in cold water. its the cost involved that the real question. is it worth it if cold is doing the trick. Seems to be lot of faffing about with the temp side to avoid cracking windows. Mind smashed a few hanging baskets swinging me brush about.

hot can hot water stay hot when cleaning in 2c it will be cold will it not as soon as it touches anything cold

To make your system a hot 1 it will cost you £2500 for a retro fit,it dosen`t have to be £10,000 look around.

Ian the usp is that it is a hot water system, as long as the customer believes hot is better than cold it doesnt matter if the water is cold when it reaches the window.

Well thats not what my post was  trying to achieve, it just amazes me that unless you have been cleaning windows for 200 years many dont want to listen to anything certain posters submit, which is a shame really because if they want to move their business forward they should have a basic understanding of marketing.

I believe you will do well with your system because you understand its value from the customers perspective. Good luck.

Sorry ned but unless you were a traditional cleaner for at least 20 years before you went wfp you are not classed as a "proper " w/c and therefore your experience and/ or opinion does not count.

yes it's a dig, but you are only saying what everyone else is thinking. On practical aspects of ways of doing things or saving money you have many insights. It's understanding that a business concept can be different to a practical one, or seeing someone else's business vision where the dig comes in.

I have often contemplated getting  an immersion heater element and rigging it up so that if I have a full tank of water I can go out in the morning with the water preheated in a well lagged tank.
Set the thermostat, link it to  a timer over night and see what happens.

I have absolutely no idea if that would work or not, the element might even contaminate the purity of the water and over the course of a few hours the water would cool down, even in a well lagged tank, but might be worth a try...mightn't it?
Even if it is useless, the cost in trying it out is minimal.

20 years??? so if you clean double or triple the amount of houses that you do does that come down to 10 years? hope so, as I class myself as a "proper" window cleaner and I hope my experience and opinion counts for something, I have started off 2 other window cleaners in there own work from scratch trained them up and they are still going.
