Nope very similar, i laid them side by side and picked them up to compare, i thought the S2 was a little heavier but then the sections are a little longer. Having said that i couldn't compare them in use because the top section was gone on the S1. I never had any breakages with the S1 whilst cleaning with it - i was just too clumsy with it everywhere else. The S2 has a more user friendly tip meaning i can use a preferred adjustable angle adapter.
Obviously Alex was well aware of the downfalls of the Maver fishing pole to want to design the S2.

Shrink wrapping all the sections on the Maver would increase the strength 10 fold,and by tapeing the tips would solve nearly all problems with this pole being flimsy.

The normal plastic screw on ones that Gardiners do and many other suppliers. Join two together if you want extra reach or purchase a gooseneck. I don't like goosenecks because you are stuck with the same angle at all lengths from six feet to sixty feet.

I had to super glue mine on to the S1 stop it spinning when i wanted to work with it at odd angles. I think i might be using my poles for slightly different applications than you are NWH.

To stop the gooseneck spinning you use the pole hose to do this,i wrap the pole hose tighter around the top section and this stops the spinning effect.

Maybe a spinning goose neck could be solved with a wrap of pvc tape wrapped on the pole so that the neck /seats onto the pole. Or are you talking about the screw thread comming loose ?  
Everything loose should be able to be dismantled, maybe glue wasnt the only answer ?

At the end of the day Dave it`s peoples opinions mate and don`t get me wrong it`s better made pole than the maver no question there,but no matter what anyone says there is more flex with it.In daily use i do find my original pole better to work with but that`s just my opinion.

Yeah thats fine NWH can't agree more - if we all had the same opinions then we would all be using exactly the same kit and things would become very boring.
Jeff, in hindsight it wasn't a clever idea to bond my gooseneck because it had a carbon shim inside it and so when i wrecked the top section i rendered the gooseneck useless for future work too.
If you are precise and gentle with your poles then a fishing pole for hight is ideal - you could pick up the Maver Resolution a short time ago for £270 from angling suppliers.
