HOW LONG?
« on: September 13, 2007, 07:53:15 am »
going into wfp soon and have heard many different stories.

How often do you clean using your wfp 4,6,8 ?
did your price go up?
I was thinking going from 4 weeks to 6 week when wfp and increasing the price by half (doesnt cost them anymore over the year and I can then get more work)
What do you think?
Heard from one person that staying 4 weeks and same price people start to ask for 2 monthly i want to try and avoid this as would make less money over a longer time (that person could have been wrong I just dont know, your help and opinions needed guys and ladies. ;)

I'd keep the prices the same for the minute Ian. Get the punters used to wfp first then if you want to increase when you see fit then thats up to you. You'll be more than happy with your prices as they are, i'd have thought as you'll be earning much more per hour than you currently are. Add another 50% and cleaning them in half the time is only going to make them resent you IMO. I'm not sayin they wont be happy with the end product, they will..........but soo many people see how quickly your earning, some even try and get a mental image of how many £'s your taking home every day and as a way of justifying keeping you, as you to clean every 8 weeks.....that only benefits them. What was the question again?  ;D

Bringing in new technology to your window cleaning round is definitely not the time to up your prices by 50%.

Whilst most customers are ambivalent about changing methods they are not in any doubt about a massive price rise.

Customers generally know how often they want their windows cleaned, it is not our job to tell them this. We found when we introduced WFP 6 years ago into our Commercial and Domestic rounds that no one reduced their frequency because of our new methods.

Of course if I was competing with your firm in your areas for work I would encourage you to 'up' your prices by 50%, because then I would find a lot of new customers coming my way!!

Ambivalent: Unsure = having mixed, uncertain, or conflicting feelings about something  ;)

thank you for the replies so far, I fully understand what you mean my customers have been with me a long time and half at least would stay if i DOUBLED THE PRICE (NOT GOING TO DO THAT) needed feedback from people that already do this as I do not have a clue in regards to how long it takes, what it costs to run, i know at the start i will see a drop in monies coming in, but over time will make more and steady growth is good, cheers guys for the repies so far, any more comments welcome in regards to the questions I asked.  :)

If you increase your round from 4 to 6 weeks,... you'll be sitting at home for at least 3 weeks! WFP is so much faster, your 4 weeks of work will be done in 3 weeks MAX!
Keep your prices the same, and stick to 4 weeks for now,.. give the custies one new thing at a time and you'll keep a lot more of them!

hi
went wfp may 2006. was working 5 hours a day trad but in month 2 with wfp i was down to less than 3 hours each day!
this allowed me to take on more work and from the may to may 2007 my 4 weekly had grown by £837 per month.
i did not increase prices but told my customers that i was spending £2k on new equipment, got them all to committ to me for 3 cleans and offered them the oppertunity to go back to trad if they wrer not happy.
quite a few were not over the moon with the first clean (my lack of experience!) but stuck with me. after the 3rd clean only one asked me to change back. i dropped her!
regulally ask my customers if their happy with the finish and they all say they are
hope this helps

Ian , You say"i know at the start i will see a drop in monies coming in,". Why? I'm in my 3rd month of a convertion to wfp. Some have not yet had wfp clean, some have had 2. Not lost one yet and income has not dropped. Explain what you're doing, give them a letter with nall the guff (there's one on www.window-tools.com in the FAQ) and do a good job.

Thanks guys so far, from the feedback i'm getting it seems leave as before and carry on like before and in time will decrease the time spent cleaning with no loss of money, I dont mind hard work, have been building my rounds up a long time now and always do a good job, I thank every single reply to this post as everything helps me make the correct choice in what to do when the change over comes into affect shortly.  ;D  ;)
