ZODI HOT TAP - HOT WATER - DO YOU USE IT? - HOW TO SET IT UP
« on: September 09, 2007, 06:46:01 pm »
Omnipole and Andrews Water Treatment sell them including Zodi themselves. From Andrew they are £900 not incl vat. They run of a agas bottle as you can see in the picture.

So do any of you guys use one? If you do please tell me how you set it up and also what it cost to run, did you buy it from the USA or UK? Does it cause the microbore to kink more? Does the water stay warm after travelling down 100m of microbore not designed for insulation then up a 40 odd ft pole? Have you found it has improved the clean, or cut cleaning time? also how many days would you say you wouldnt have been able to work without it? thanks for any help, Luke

I was also looking at this last night Luke after seeing the advert on EBAY with the van, they are used for showers that are used a lot by people who do a lot of camping etc,i think the biggest customer is the army.It heats water on demand,i would say you connect hose to after DI outlet and before hosereel, the guy is so impressed with hot water WFP he`s buying an ionics 1.

I am a bit of a doubting thomas on this one, not sure its going to help when below freezing or in rural areas. But by the sea and traffic wax etc could help. Only a few have a hot system and because of bias may not give a definetive reply as to whether its better. Keep meaning to try to set up a heated Webasto car windscreen washer. I know at £200 its only for small ammounts of water, but I can clean with small ammounts.

Faster drying time, and it does dry faster with hot water. To initially get PVC up scratch, con roofs etc, notice how quickly it drys in the summer i want that for most of the year.

I agree Jeff cold does the same thing but hot does dry quicker,i`ve had a demo.I would be interested to know how much it costs in gas etc, numptyody on here ever comments about running costs of the thermopure system although that could say that it`s not a huge amount.

working at an average of £10 an hour ( some are below this, some are above ), you would have to work 90 ( 45 hours or 5 days at £20 per hour ) hours or 11 and a quarter 9-5 days to pay for the system not including fitting it in your van. So the question is, is it worth it. So to be worth it the hot water will have to save you more than 90 hours work to be worth it at 10 per hour, if you earn more then it will take less time to make it pay. But you also have the hastle of an extra thing to do at the job setup and gas bottles to buy. So will the winter lose you 90 hours of work? I doubt it, so this is a long term investement. It will only pay off after say 2 plus years. Or have I got this all wrong? Luke

ps. another way of thinking of it is, 90 £10 jobs, it will take 90 £10 jobs to pay it off no matter how fast you work!!!!

It will take 90 £10 jobs to pay it off and thats not including the units vat, delivery, and time installing it costs. Thinking of it this way makes me wonder is it worth it? Luke

Would having a gas bottle in your van not increase the cost of your van insurance as well

yeah I thought about that too, and you have to display a sticker. Windowwashers, so what if thats what I might work for, as it happens I don't but why should I put people down because of what they earn. It was an estimate of the average wc wage. My best mate is a wc and he doesnt earn that much, should I go and laugh at him and say "ha ha, I earn more than you, why dont you work for me". Infact my mate does well to be over minimum wage where I live! Luke
Luke my comment i think may have upset you, it was meant as a joke not as a dig my man if i offended you in anyway i am truly sry i never meant it that way.

I have a thermopure system, and to be honest the only time i use it is on first cleans, only if i cant have access to the customers tap on the first clean. I didnt use it that much last winter, only when it was really cold. I really cant see that it makes that much difference.
