WANTED - Carpet Cleaning Machine
« on: June 30, 2007, 09:41:09 am »
Hi!

I'm new here - very glad I found this , looks like a fabulous place for sharing cleaning info & resources.

I am looking to buy a 2nd hand Hot water extraction machine ASAP.

Mainly for in-between lets carpet cleaning for 10-20 properties.

I did not want to spend much more than £200 - £300 inc. attatchments etc.

Based in N. London & willing to travel to collect.

Thanks in advance.

Abby

By the way, I did wonder if I might be able to get away with a basic new model like a Numatic GVE370 George for £170
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Numatic-GVE370-George-vacuum-cleaner/dp/B00014AVW2/ref=sr_1_22/026-9860373-1504434?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1181222451&sr=1-22
or even a Vax 6131 £80
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Multifunction-Canister-Vacuum-Carpet-Washer/dp/B0000O0N5S/ref=sr_1_45/026-9860373-1504434?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1181222925&sr=1-45

Does anyone have any experience with these machines, or are they a waste of time to do a decent job ?

Edit:
Also came across this new machine:
Apollo Carpet Spray Extraction Cleaner £350

The money you make doing 20 properties and you only want to spend £300?  You need to train and invest in something like http://www.restormate.co.uk/epages/Store.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/15094/Products/CRAFT02   or get one 2nd hand ?

Abby,

sorry mate but I think you need to be looking at about £1000 for a good second hand one with all the kit.
well worth it.
the results are great.

A bit puzzled by this........................there is a huge difference, between 10 and 20 of anything !

I do end of let cleans, for about 60 properties, but this only results in a very low volume of work and it's very much at the lower end of the pricing scale.

The machines you mention, are really just very low powered, tiny capacity machines which are really only capable of very small jobs

There's  a regular supply of suitable machines crop up on here

Thanks for the replies guys.

I guess I'll have to shell out a bit more for a decent machine then.

I have done an NCCA course & run my own carpet cleaning business many years ago. Used an Extracta machine (wish I had it now).

I'm not planning to get back into the business professionally again ( not yet anyway), but want the machine for my father who manages these properties.

Appreciate the comments.

Let me know if a suitable machine becomes available.

Cheers - Abby
