Okay, no laughing people

I cleaned my first bit of carpet with all my new gear at the weekend and it was a bit of a Laurel & Hardy affair! It does raise some points I need to try and sort out though. There seemed to be so many things to get done in the right order.

Can anyone offer any help with the following:

1. The wonder wand was locking so tight to the carpet because of the vac power that I was unable to do a forward stroke at all.

2. The solution hose got quite 'kinked' and it was a real fight to straighten it out.

3. The vac, solution and power cords ended up in a birds nest.

4. When I was packing up a few litres of water came back out of the vac hose and, fortunately, ended up on the drive.

I think I need a bit more practice yet!!!

1. At least you know you have great suction now! Seriously have you got the rollers on? simply roll it forward and dry pass backwards towards you.

2. Cable tie the solution hose to the vac hose at approx 20 inches apart (snipping excess cable tie lengths off). This saves you worrying about both and keeps it tidy (and less chace of tripping up etc).

3. How high did you throw it!

4. This is quite normal, just let the vacs run for a few seconds more to suck it up. If there is a bit left (try to do it as standard practice - especially if indoors) put one of your terry towels in the vac hose as you roll it up, to prevent water on the floor.

It's usually recommended by manufacturers, that you continue to run the vacs for about 60 seconds after emptying the tank, clearing the hose and ensuring the motors are dry.

With 50ft hose its best to split the vac into 2 x 25fts with a connector- much easier to handle. this does mean you cant cable tie the solution hose to it.Just be abit tidier when you work should sort out the rest.

on the forward stroke, slightly lower your handle...dip it a couple of inches...this lifts the front edge of the wand slightly and you roll the wand forward...drop it back down and dry pass backwards.

cable tie both vac/solution hose together.

leave vacs on a minute or so after cleaning to dry out the hose.

That's nothing, wait till you have to empty the waste sock and get it back on. It would be good training for junior gynocologists.

Owen dont worry about it mate ive been cleaning carpets for 15 months and i still need more practice, have you thought about a glide for your wand?

No glide available for this wand. I tried using a lip but no use as the vacuum slot is so narrow. I find that locking and chatering is only a problem on tufted carpets . This wand needs no downward pressure ,if anything I lift mine slightly to increase airflow and most carprets hardly need a drying pass.

You need to unscrew the vac port and the elbow that the sock is on to empty it. This needs doing regularly or you loose lots of vac power. It will fill up even faster if you dont pre vac.

Dare I say I have been using it recently without the sock  Got so fed up with it

Been keeping a close eye on it but its been fine. I must admit I have been tinkering with the idea of modifying the unit so that the vac mesh section is gotten rid of, making a flatter one covering the bore of the tube - and then arranging it upwards towards the lid to prevent any 'bits' flying in. Ive never like the idea of the tube in the mytee facing down and so close to the waste water level.

Before I get jumped on, some of you know that the Pro Plus/Advantage point both of their vac tubes upwards, and when we had one it lasted 5yrs before we sold it on in perfect condition. So the question is, does it really need it? If we pre vac properly it should be ok.

Is it me or is there absolutely no reference to the waste sock anywhere in the manual.

My only other gripe, and I must say it's a brilliant machine, but the pressure valve is just too proud, it's begging to be clobbered.

Also why the priming polava? My Ninja didn't need one.

Quite right Mike, and...

The fill compartment entry is far too small. Difficult to fill with buckets.

There is no temp guage of the water either in the machine or whats coming out

There should be a female connector on the machine (next to the inlet) as its incredibly difficult getting it on/off

The vac mesh assembly/position could have been thought out better - and not needing the dam sock!

Apart from that a brill machine!

Having said all that it's a cracking machine for the money, especially if you get it from the ebay seller at £1895 hoses and wand and no VAT.

I would have got it from Matt at Cleantalk, but he has shyed away from them now.

Another challenge I'm having is noise. I must admit the Ninja was quieter even without the silencer.

I thought no probs I'll just connect the ninja silencer, but it has two vac exhausts, none standard bore and they are quite close to the ground. Anyone rigged anything up?

So   You have a contract with your supplier and as such he should honour the warranty, regardless as to whether he still sells them or not.

I have quietened my speedster with a piece of dense corrogated foam long enough to roll into a cylinder, then slid under the machine where the vac outlets are. this absorbs the noise really well and is so cheap and easy.
As regards a certain dealer shying away from these machines ,I think its due to a lack of serious back up regards warranty parts and after sales service which is costing them money as they keep their clients happy even if it costs them to do so.Its a shame cos it is a good machine.

Two things, and people wonder why others use a truck mount.  What a load of nonsense to have to deal with with a machine.

Second, Mike, you think yours was loud, what did you thibk of the one I was using?
