I can assemble my fishing pole in under a minute,it all depends on how it`s stored in your vehicle and how many sections needed.I wouldn`t be without mine.

No £1K no   £5k min to set up, but it doesnt exist yet, maybe Alex has something new ? .  All tapered poles are made on a tapered mandrel. The sections therfore are not interchangeable. Glass fibre will withstand the pressure of a telescopic pole but carbon fibre up till now will just part under pressure when trying to lock or if you fit a locking collar cannot take the inward pressure.

Maybe take the locking joints of a glass fibre telescopic and an inch or too either side, and combine with carbon fibre sections but you may be talking about a hand made job, I have thought of it but cannot quite think thro into 3 dimensions to "see" it. Peter has his new pole and uses the hose to stop the telescopic sections collapsing, its a good idea and may lead onto something else.
Its your topic, have you any suggestions ?

I agree NWH I always have mine to hand and at a slopping angle on the elecy trolley (suggestion for Unger and their Ctec) , put them in butt first and they slide straight in. Others carry two assembled sections and another two assembled.

i could use fishpole for 18 hrs a day
but they have brittle ends  sliding and dropping them in the trolleyholder grates on my nerves  the mere touch of c fibre against solids gives immediate damage

Wrap 8 turns of pvc tape round the base to create a collar overlap.and fill the tops with a cone of silicon or expanding faom.

If you only fill the tips with an inch or two you can still stack them inside each other a bit, the expanding foam is messy. Cut out the seperations from the top of a second hand golf bag with legs. The idea is that it slopes. Heres a pic of the elec troll. only one pole in but u can see its open and accessible. yes a neat system
i thought you would have filled up completly the top section with foam because it gets the most stick
my top section is now qite battered
well, scrap it and make the 2nd section the top-just need to put in another thead for neck ad infinitum
the more top sections are scrapped the stronger the pole due to larger diameter section

Make the top section a numer 4 Zensorflex glass fibre, you wont wear it out, which then fits over your number 5. What make are you using ?
You cannot fill the top section it will not cure.
Its not that neat really, ideally you need something similar to a bag but has most of it open like a large U shaped gutter, or 2 U brackets 3-4ft apart. If its open its easier to chuck the sections on in any order. You could fit this "U" section at an angle on an upright trolley instead of the golf bag idea.
You cannot yet get anything lighter or cheaperthan fishing poles so you have to work within their limitations, which you do get used to.

I've been using a Ron Thompson Reload and It's my favourite. However you really need the glassfibre Zensorflex top section as Jeff says. I haven't 'cos I'm too tight to buy one! The carbon fibre top section is not really strong enough as it's paper thin. Mine has started to split so I have had to cut a bit off. I have telescopic extenders too but very rarely get them out of the van anymore. To be perfectly honest the top lightweight modular poles are a waste of money from proper suppliers unless you have a lot of four story and above work.

Billoz, not much to look at really it's just a carbon carp fishing pole made out of modular sections. If you know what the Superlights look like from Gardiners you will get the idea. The Superlights are basically fishing poles anyway but better/lighter quality but at a much higher price obviously. The diy versions are almost as good but at bargain prices that would make them nearly disposable. Jeff Brimble seems to be a bit of a pioneer with Diy if you follow his advice you will save yourself a lot of money and hassle of experimenting yourself.

Don't know if the link will work but it's a topic I started a few weeks ago that upset a certain supplier (although he is a decent one). Diy is certainly possible, much much cheaper and the route I'm looking into for the future. You need to bear in mind just how fragile these poles are though (which is a good reason why I don't intend spending that kind of money again) but the difference is amazing especially if your using telescopic glassfibre poles.
Superlight thirty five feet from suppliers - £580 (complete)
Superlight fishing pole from an angling shop = £290 (same pole but weaker top section)
Ron Thompson Reload = £56 delivered
Ron Thompson Zensoreflex = 18.99 + delivery
Do the maths and if your confident there is a very cheap way into modular poles!

i have looked at both of your suggestions davew, and they are amazing prices, can you tell me how you attached the brush to these poles please, i am assuming that jeff has a full explaination of how to convert them on the other forum but i can tget on there yet

Jeffs never far away and is bound to pop up soon! All I have done is sawn a length of broom handle off and bonded it into the top section of my pole as it already has the threaded tip on it. I also fitted the strengthened sleeve of the next section over the tip prior to bonding. If you use the Zensorflex glass section it will be much stronger. I have one of Gardiners superlights and they fit their goosenecks over the pole tip. You might be able to adapt a tv ariel pole? The Superlight has a stronger tip that I suspect is a super taper section that angling shops supply. I use very light Bentley brushes too to reduce the stress on the pole. Superlight replacement sections are sixty pounds EACH so if you tread on one it's going to make your eyes water!

Dave the F16 package also comes with a spare "supertaper" section but I discard it and prefer the No4 section of the almost "indestructable" Zensorflex" which will fit most modular tapered poles out there including the now defunct superlight Maver- which will shortly be replaced.
