« on: March 11, 2007, 12:56:41 pm »
for the 3 people who asked what my ad was like here it is, this is the same as last years (almost) which worked really well ( otherwise why would i repeat the same ad this year and put the same ad in another directory ;))

sorry its a bit blurry, but you can see the basic layout

Nice ad,.. mind me asking roughly what it cost?
I'm looking at YP advertising now, and the rep I met with gave me prices of €1200 upwards for an ad not 1/10th that size!!

Not a bad price for an ad that size Mike, I will be paying around £1200 for an ad probably similar size to the Servicemaster ad just below yours there, it will however include an additional colour.  Providing this ad goes well I may try an ad the following year with a photo.

Mike, I'll take your 2 grand and then I ll bring in more work than the yellow pages will for you.  Actually I'd do it for free.  Anyway, does it bring in that much that its worth doing?  I guess so else you wouldnt be doing it but just wondered.  Best, Dave.

I said on a previous thread where daft people were saying all you need from an ad is a 1;1 return that my advert brought in 5-1 but i worked out this number when the book  just came out, during the busy xmas period it went barmy I would guess it brought in 7/8-1 so it is worth doing, that why I've done exactly the same ad in another book, I'm hoping for the same return.

With all the offers what type of customer does it attract.

Yellow pages can put your head away with the price shoppers.

I do get price shoppers but I can tell them when they speak and tell me where they live and I just blow them out.

I get a lot of good customers from near me because the photo is nearly the same as on my van so they say I 'see your van all the time' and the bottom line list the area i serve, so  i get lots from that area.

I may need glasses then 8)

upholstery cleaning can be hard to sell so drying times are a good selling point.
