Tell Me Why I Don't Like Mondays?
« on: March 05, 2007, 08:07:38 pm »
The last few mondays something has gone wrong.

Forgot invoice pad one week, forgot microfibres the other.

Today - just started 3rd job of the day and my Flojet just stopped working. ???

Switched to back up battery - nothing! ???

Thought I'd swap the pump over with the new SHURflo that I'd been keeping as a spare.  Then realise that the Flojet had female connectors and the SHURflo has male connectors (bad planning).

Local plumbers merchant manages to supply the necessary parts and away we go.  Go to bolt the SHURflo in and find that the bolts that I had used for the FLOjet are too big in diameter for the SHURflo.  Off to Screwfix to order the bolts, nuts, washers etc wait 15 min for them to pick the order only to be given the wrong size bolts (someone had put them in the wrong store location and consequently they did not have the ones I needed)! >:(  Quick devert to Wickes and all is sorted.

Decide I may as well wire in the varistream that I had been keeping for the new van (had been operating the Flojet just on the pressure switch - no varistream).

Wired in the varistream and a trickle of water  ???

Lowered the height of the pump (to get rid of the air lock) resulting in a good flow of water.

Bad news - Now got 7 jobs to catch up with.
Good News - learnt about the varistream and picked up a new local customer.

At least Monday is out of the way!

Heavy rain due tomorrow! :'(

Maybe the song should have been, "Tell me why I don't like Tuesdays?"

I've been going a year now and I do enjoy it.  Every job (and I've had a few) has it's ups and downs.  But at least I've got away from the red tape and the time wasting bureaucrats.

If you recall what the "don't like Mondays" song was originally about, you will realise your Monday was good because you were still breathing at the end of it  :)
Good song IMO.
BTW.  My Monday wasn't so brilliant either due to a lot of poncing about but at least I got to three figures.

I had a rubbish Monday also.

I managed to break a hose reel winding it up so had to spend the rest of the day throwing the hose in the back of the van.

Then towards the end of the day from where I had my hose every where I opened the side door and BANG my V2 steam mate hit the floor and water was coming out of it. These cost around £700 so I know it's going to be expensive to repair.

I had a very good days earnings but feel I will need to spend it on new bits that broke.

I Hate Mondays......

I always hated Mondays when I was employed... now, unless I'm really behind, I just lie in and start late on Mondays and let Tuesday take the strain!  :P  I now have absolutely no problem with Mondays  ;)

Hi Brett

I was planning to go but having booked a weeks holiday at Easter I'm reluctant to take any more time off at the moment.

Mind you now I've fitted my varistream I seem to be working faster ???

Have a beer for me :'(
