The reason for a hard hat is if anything falls on your head. If you are faster than your co-worker then you are going to be lower than he is and in the direct path of a falling applicator, or at that height it could even be a bird!!!!

Can't argue with you Steve,No matter how safe you are working there is always something else you could have done to make it safer and a helmet would be a small thing to add to make it safer
As far as tools falling each tool should be secured by a flexible lanyard to the bucket or the bosuns chair and while it is not impossible for it to happen in 20 years ive never heard of an accident caused by this

No PJ there is no law prohibiting Bosuns Chair work, there are a few restrictions on height and the weight of the individual, but those lads are well under the 300ft limit and they look like a bunch of skinny south americans :)

[/Colin was the bank actually in NEw Jersey or was it somewhere else as at this time of year in the north east its just too cold to do that kind of work quote]

Yes Pat, it was right outside the Jew Jersey Penn Station. Like I said it was the only warm sunny day of the whole week. Next day was windy and then the snow came back with a vengeance.

Also there were two lines per man, BUT they were run through the same handle so far as I could see. I base that on the fact the the ropes were slightly apart as they went down to each man, then were close together just below the man and separated again as they continued to the ground.
