What have you left behind?
« on: October 25, 2006, 08:18:21 pm »
OK let's have a bit of fun instead of slagging each other off!

What have you left behind at your customers and how far did you have to drive to retrieve it?

I'll give you two.

1. Last month where I left my bucket somewhere, couldn't remember where and bought a new one. Found the old one a month later still sat on this commercial customers outside air-conditioner, part filled with filthy soapy water.

2. Today - (I used my short cut down ladder for the first time in five months) I left it at the back of a school I was working on and realised as I was about to park on my drive. Round trip of 24 miles to retrieve it!

Numpty me. (I occasionally leave my pole at a customers too.) ;D
It's a game of three halves!

A couple of weeks ago,
I was offered a cup of tea from a customer  and we sat in the back yard drinking it whilst we chatted. I took my belt off and hung it on her decking post. I forgot all about it 2 or 3 miles away to the next clean. We had to drive all the back to get it. Such a Nuisance!!

And,
I can't forget the ammount of times i've hung some scrims on the customers line to dry and left them behind.

Propole: is this a long enough post for ya HA HA!! ;D ;D

A slight reverse on the thread because I tend not to leave stuff at customers but seem to aquire there cups, I tend to do my paperwork in the van while drinking the many cups of tea I get offered on jobs and always forget to pick up the cup when going to get the customer to sign for the work done......shocking of me i know, but not intensional.

Left bucket behind a couple of times, once it had gone and the guy where I left it said no I have not seen it (thieving sh*t) and the other time it was where I left it but that was about a 30 mile round trip.

Forgotten my coat loads of times, normally just pick it up when passing not really worth driving back for.

I hate driving to work then realising I've left scrims or micros at home.

Usually after I've squeegeed the first window.>:(

yesterday left my pole in the pub garden

my biggest "leave behind'er" was when i was a carpenter, we had a contract to fit High security locks on ALL council properties in the s wales area

in the worse estate in penarth (a block of flats) i left a 450 quid cordless drill behind

we went to have breakie and i realised, of course i finished my breakie and went to have a look, it had gone

i walked to the van in a foul mood only for 1 of the "lads" (today we would call him a chav) to come up and ask "have you lost anything" i say "yes" he hands it over and says "there you go"

i was gobsmacked to be honest

left my warning sign outside a city centre shop last week. Came back later to find that the staff had taken in and put it against the wall...

... as it was causing a trip hazard!  ;D ;D ;D

This Monday morning I was distracted while sorting my car out and never secured my ladders to my car.

I found this out when I 'left' my A Frames on the round-about near where I live, after they slid off my roof rack while going about 20 MPH.

The van behind me swerved, came to a stop and the driver yelled, 'I've done that too!'

Not Quite the same, but here goes.....

A number of years back whilst working at a local Working Mens Club,a kiddie I know(Hes 65ish now)was helping redecorate, hes had a full driving liscence since he was 20 but no car,was asked to go into town to the Dulux Centre and pick up 3 sets of paint,5ltrs of each, white, beige and a cream, they gave him the money for it and the Steward of the club lent him his car, nearly 3 hours later he returned with the paint and we started painting,a couple of hours later the stewards doing his nut because he cant find his car in the carpark,he asked ....where did you park my car when you came back from the paint shop?..................... ???
.......................dead silence.............................................
........................B*ll*x I strugled with them tins back on the bus for nothing.......  ;D ;D

His excuse for leaving the car and catching a bus back was that I dont normally drive I allways catch a bus.........

I have left buckets, applicators, squeegies and scrim behind at jobs before.

My son is terrible for this.

Last month clean a row of houses and finished them drove a couple of miles to another row of houses opened back up where's my powerpole.
My lad left it at the last job.

The woman went out and locked the gate so my lad got our 8ft pointer off and hopped over the gate.
Passed the powerpole over put in the van.
He came back over and drove back a couple of miles to the houses we were going to clean.

Got there i started cleaning and guess what my lad said were's the small ladder.
He only forgot to put it back on the van when we went back to get the powerpole.
So back we go, Don't know what the neighbours must have thought visiting one house 3 times in one day.

And last week we were working away and about 3pm my lad goes were's the small ladder.
I thought someone must have knicked it.
Then i thought back to the jobs we had done that day and it was the very 1st job we needed it on.
We had done 20 houses since then and thought i bet its not there.
So drove a mile back to job and luckily still there resting against her porch

I dropped my phone in someones garden once and they rang my home number to let me know.
I told them i would pop straight back for it.
Went back now answer.
It took me 3 days before i could get an answer and my phone back and she said your phone keeps ringing and its driving me mad.
I said i did call back like i said and she said yes but it was getting dark so don't answer the door in the dark.

Fortunately, never left anything that really mattered behind.

However,  before I was full time on the windows I did some temp HGV 1 Driving for a local company based in Andover, Hants. I was told to get in my vehicle and return some empty cages to the depot in Birmingham (120 miles each way), so, got in my cab, drove to Birmingham, opened the back and realised I had forgotten to load the cages!! Boss was not too pleased with me  >:(

Thank goodness for window cleaning  ;)

I often leave wee wee! :-[
