personally Terry, I would suggest you didnt really handle it corectly

I would say it is irrelevant that the carpet was "cheap crap" you were responsable when surveying to
make it clear of any problems that could surface.
If indeed you pointed these out and custy signed a waiver, it bodes well in your favour.

why did you just not agree to get a friendly fitter to come and restrech? and you cover all the costs, the benifits of this must be in your favour, and less likely of him slagging you off

I recently hwe a b/w and was rather expecting a shrinkage prob as already parts of carpet were off grippers. Warned custy , and suggested bonnet clean, to no avail, she wanted hwe.
sure enough even been extra carfull shrinkage occured immediatly, No problem, she said, but as my freindly c/ fitter lived around the corner, I had it restreched a few days later. much to her delight
and hopefully future work from her
