Quote from: NBwcs on February 12, 2026, 08:34:31 pmHow does having 2 electric reels when your a one man band make you quicker unless you've perfected a way of cleaning with 2 poles at the same time.! One of the reels is going to sit there redundant , and why on earth dont you have a manual reel as a back up and then just order another electric reel when the other one packs in. Given that several on here are saying the PF reel lasts for years, you could well find out its outlasted you if you become unfit to work, what a waste of money that would have been. Im all for having a few spares but thats just nuts.I agree....he throws money at equipment that he doesn't need and tries to convince us it's gonna make him more money. My reel in 9 years old now. Still going strong 💪

We’re all different and none of us are perfect, but Scottish is a different level. Hopefully he’ll find another, or return to advising on another forum.
The reel came today and now waiting on my 25' pole. I can take a photo of both reels when I fit this one today. One reel will have 130m's of hose and the other will have 100m's of hose. If I find I can run with only 100m's then I will reduce the first reel. I don't use the same reel, I swap over halfway through my list of work that day. These reels come with a winding handle that can be attached when they fail to work. Will see how they go but first impressions are good.

That's the reason alot of boilers fail come October because the heating has not been on for months. Got told this when I worked on the oil rigs.
New Reels.

That's the reason alot of boilers fail come October because the heating has not been on for months. Got told this when I worked on the oil rigs.Did they have 2 oil rigs in case one broke down?I worked on The Thistle rig in the North Sea. We were drilling with one Derrick and a driller and assistant was working on the other Derrick. I told the guys what a waste of money because all they were doing was sending the Kelly up and down and applying grease. I always remember their reply :- BP thought the same as you until after it was sitting idle for 7 months and we began to drill on that Derrick. It had seized and cost a million to fix and many more in lost production. So now they employ 2 drillers to keep all the parts moving everyday. I have never forgot that answer and try and run my van and system everyday for at least 5 minutes. I'm not that intelligent but what I do have is a fantastic memory when I am told important things in business.
... because a complex oil drilling platform cutting miles through sea, rock and the Earth's crust to a pressurised sea of oil and gas in the elements of the North Sea is going to have the same corrosion and degredation in 7 years as your electric reel has while sat in a van for 24 hours, eh Scottish?

I now have everything I need after 7 years as a window cleaner so hopefully no outgoings in the future and I can save up for a new van.
