How are people doing this now, I remember it used to be a £1 a window but obviusly thats changed.

Beeen speaking  to a local window cleaner today whos making £5-600 quid a day, even showed me his schedule to prove it, I'm not there but would like to be.

 £380-£400 is my best days, am I slacking?

Are guys still pricing per window or is it all how many bedrooms etc?

We price by how long it will take to do the job not the number of windows you will earn far more this way

I price it like the council tax system and how much risk is involved. Best thing to do is give them a first clean price and after that clean you will know how hard it is and what price will make it worth your while. Worst thing I have done is price a clean low and then having to add a pound ever year to get it up to correct price. Hard cleans just grind one down but I have come up with a way to deal with them. One was £18 a month and she couldn't get a window cleaner. I took her on and then realised she needs to be in so I can clean the back when the garage door is open. After a year I bumped it up to a score and she immediately cancelled. Happy days, I wouldn't take it back for even more each month now I realise why no one wants to clean the house.

I do it with feeling now. After I clean the house, I get a good feeling jumping in the van knowing I've added ex amount to my day's balance. When it happens the other way, then I bite the bullet and write on the card I'm adding £1 to their clean next month and they can cancel if they are not happy with the rise. Its a win win situation for me and if they cancel I don't take them back again. 😉

My biggest earning days are around the £350-£400 a day mark but my days are short(no more than 5 or 6 hours). No doubt i could earn another £100 or so quid that day but I lose interest after 5 or 6 hours and head off home.

My biggest earning days are around the £350-£400 a day mark but my days are short(no more than 5 or 6 hours). No doubt i could earn another £100 or so quid that day but I lose interest after 5 or 6 hours and head off home.

So you're hitting around £70 ph, you're also North - North west if I remember right, been  a while since on here.

With you on that buddy, any cancellations are permenant here too.

I just took one on whos last cleaning is no longer servicing the area, I said £30 and he said the last cleaner charged £16 ( became obvious at that point why the last cleaner is no longer servicing the area ) so I said I'll do 3 cleans at £25 then we can renegotiate from there, the windows arent too bad its just the hose run I dont like!

Don’t really want to post that on here as certain haters will be saying it’s Willy waving ,lot of green eyed  monsters on here .

You can earn a lot of money in this job if you can do the hours. I do about £50 to 60 per hour up north, if i could work 8 hours a day thats £400 plus. Now given my average is only around £13/14 mark imagine what those that average £20 or more down south can do, the £500 a day is easy enough.

But who can stomach 40 hours a week cleaning windows, i bet i do 20 at a push.

As for pricing ive never done it per window, its more just experience based on a simliar sized house i already do.

In the interests of perspective and balance, given this is an open forum and will  be visible to customers, newbies, and snoops alike, whenever an earnings thread gets raised, you'll only ever hear about the top end amounts being earned I'm not doubting for one minute that those less endowed who seize the moment to ease their insecurities by boasting about their earnings are  actually earning what they say, but what  they don't do is give a balanced picture, there will be days when they earn absolutely nowt. There are thousands and thousands of window cleaners out there not earning anything near some of the figures that get quoted on here and other platforms. I only have to look at some of my local colleagues and see how they work and see what they're charging to realise that  they're probably not earning that much more than the minimum wage. It doesn't do anyone any favours to have the world thinking we're all on £400 to £500 a day, because the industry as whole simply isn't. If you are then fair play to you but telling the whole world on an open forum gives those not in the know the wrong impression,

There's parts of my run i hit £70 per hour, ober the full run it evens itself out to around the £50 mark.

The OP was asking about our best days on the glass not our average....

Most of my days are nowhere near £400 a day. An average day can be as low as £200 some days but im happy with my general earnings overall.

Once I reached a comfortable level of income(which was many years ago now) I simply lost interest in working longer or chasing after more money. In fact the opposite has happened. I work shorter days and less hours per week.

If you want to work longer days and chase the money go for it.

Most window cleaners will be prone to exaggerating when it comes to day rates(even more so if they want to tell another window cleaner they hardly know).

My question would be why are you not happy with your current earnings? Remember if he is earning 500-600 a day he'll be paying an awful lot of tax which will take the shine off his income overall...

I clean a care home with 100 windows and get a ton for it and it take's an hour. Now I realise why windies like cleaning care homes. Only got the job because no one would answer their phone and I answered mine. Alot of luck in this game but if you are willing to take all work then sometimes a nugget appears.

100 windows ÷ 60 minutes = 100 / 60

: 100 ÷ 60 = 1.666...

So,  about 1.67 windows per minute — roughly one window every 36 seconds.

You may think £1 a window on commercial is good  and as long as your happy that’s the main thing but people where charging a £1 a window in the 90’s.
