What do you say when...
« on: June 24, 2022, 05:35:44 pm »
I sometimes get comments from members of the public when working which I find difficult to respond to.  Banter type stuff for the most part which probably doesn't require a serious answer.  Some examples could be:

"You can come and do mine after if you want?" or "Make sure you don't miss the corners."

What's the appropriate response for this kind of stuff?  I usually don't know what to say and just do a fake laugh or chuckle type thing.  It happens mostly when doing commercial work more so than residential/domestic.  I do a bingo hall for example and it happens fairly often there.

Any advice on good responses appreciated.  Also feel free to add any more common questions/slogans that may be thrown the way of us window cleaners by the public that are awkward to deal with.

If its "you've missed a bit", i usually smile and say "no ones ever said that to me before". They generally disappear after that.

Normally have my earphones in. Yes I hear the odd comments but I just ignore them and carry on.
It's funny when you can see their reflection in the glass and they are standing there like a muppet waiting for a response  ;D

mate, man up and respond however you want to respond without being aggressive or rude.

"You can come and clean my windows after this"
"No thanks, I'm too busy for that"
"Make sure you don't miss a bit"
"I usually don't but it could be your unlucky day, just kidding (make it a reality if they're being a idiot")

seriously, man the f*** up and don't be weak

Should have shouted back, 'I hope you don't get wet.'
We look at them, they look through them.
