« on: September 24, 2020, 11:27:51 am »
My Employee said he wants some decent waterproofs for a change as opposed to the cheap tat i buy for him.

Can someone link or give me some names for decent waterproof jackets that do the job please.

Thanks guys.

Let him choose his own. Its him who has to use them for work and we all have different preferences when it comes to what we feel comfortable working in.

Hi Viz waterproofs from Arco with web address on his back. I don't Go for non standard clothing coats or waterproofs, it all has to be part of our company uniform with logos. Shoes are all they need to supply

The only time ive been a cheapskate is literally with waterproofs.  Everything else i give him is top quality just never bought expensive waterproofs, ive only ever used cheap ones myself and it does the job, kind of.

I need to look into buying decent waterproofs though.

If you are going to buy anything that will keep you properly dry you need to spend a fair amount of money, full Gortex jacket and trousers to be honest if it’s that wet I wouldn’t work anyway unless it’s a weatherboard clean etc.

If anyone turned up at my house to clean the windows in monsoon conditions resembling a trawler man, he would soon be sent on his way....with his pole tucked firmly between his legs!

I wouldn't be buying him decent waterproofs.
Either what KS says or provide him with replacement warm and dry clothing- as and when needed- and somewhere to get changed.
Maybe even showering facilities. I would say a bath with candles and decent towels but I realise that there is a pandemic going on.
Up the workers!

If I knew I had someone that was gonna be earning me a decent percentage each week I’d look after him, what’s a few hundred quid on top waterproofs for them when they are earning you money I wouldn’t want anyone to recent me over a few quid.

Exactly thats the whole point of the post.  I will get him some decent waterproofs.  I used to get him cheap waterproofs not anymore.

I'm not getting into a working in heavy rain debate, we work in all weathers end of, customers get it, they accept it, the few that dont get  a free pass.

I'll look up Gortex then thanks for that.

He might need a few sets if you work in heavy rain. And somewhere to get changed. And somewhere to get warm.

The least you can do if you expect someone to work in persistent rain is provide the right clothing if they keep going home chilled to the bone how long do you think they’ll last,a brimmed waterproof hat is good also it stops the water running down the back of the jacket collar.
