Nathan you are coming across too apologetic.

Next it will be a sorry note..

Dear Customer.

I am so sorry, but your windows were cleaned today, possibly in the rain. My family are so ill, and i am so greatful for your sympathy, would it be ok if could ask you for £xx so i can buy food and clothing, but don't forget i am offering a 75% discount as an extra, due to my lowliness and recognition that i am grateful to be allowed to clean your windows.

Best...nk services.

Most customers couldn't care less or not at home if it's raining..

Writing that on just creates problems that ain't there.

Not really. When i first switched over to wfp all my customers got a flyer explaining that i will be working in the rain.  All my new customers have a welcome pack which also states i work in the rain and refers them to the website and also highlights the 24hr guarantee (thats yet to be called on).
However a long standing customer piped up its a waste of time mate its raining. Yep he was told quickly the usual response and just carried on as usual, all is good.   So writing it on the cards is just a reminder (all be its read carefully mind you  ;D).

You haven't countered SB's statement Nathan.

He said most people couldn't give a toss about working in the rain. In an effort to counter that You replied stating you gave out a leaflet explaining about working in the rain when you went over to WFP. You gave out leaflets because you feared a response.

You had no proof you would get one. Only what your head told you. Which isn't evidence, its fear.

Its amazing what conclusions people can jump to.
Ive been cleaning windows for a very long time, during which on trad I never cleaned in the rain. So switching over onto a new concept and changing the pattern/nature of how i worked would need to be quickly explained to my clients.  I suppose matt and others that you have time to knock on each door and explain yourselfs........of course you aint. So a leaflet in the door with my usual card would do.
Haha everytime your gas company or electric company or even your bank makes any changes; do they come to your house to explain or simply pop letters in the bank.  But i understand now, its because they are afraid!! 😂😂😂 what utter rubbish.
Theres many on here who hide behind keyboards and non descript identities on here.......are these ones simply afraid and being keyboard warriors 😂😂

Mark,   sorry mate i dont see the fact that i have a great rapport with my customers that i can be honest without disclosing full details which makes them trust me more.  Shame i know  majority of my customers by name and not door numbers. Yep that sounds needie.
A quick reminder never hurts.  Sure no one cares as the vast majority know my cards etc and simply pick them up, put to one side and give me them back when they see me. Majority dont even read the payment options on the back...........until they need to.    But thats right, my tiny little card which isnt dated when ive cleaned their windows and isnt a full blown print out with date, time, invoice number, waffle and date of next clean etc etc all on it.......who does that????  Oh yes, its you isnt it?!

I think it's the fact you've crudely written it on by hand in biro that's a bit creepy  :o

If you had cards printed on the back saying "why do we clean in the rain" "rain guarantee" or similar and then visit our website ...

That could work quite well, you have put your website address on there so may get some traffic and also you have alerted people to your website with a good tag line...

However to just write it on comes across as odd and quite scary.

I know your intentions are good mate but quite often you miss judge things like this, maybe less thinking and more cleaning.

Helpful suggestion for Nathan's website, a section on:

"Why I sometimes pee in your garden"

(It should be less offensive than what he does when it rains)

I think someone is being a bit sensitive,  man up a and admit it looks and reads badly.  if your not w@nking in the rain your also drawing your meat and 2 veg on the card

perhaps the thread should be penetration is key ?

cheer up NK - the the banter and pointers  on the chin - learn from the experience rather than being defensive and justifying your actions

Listen Nathan,

I think you are generally a nice chap. I truly believe that you are good at what you do, and i don't doubt that you have a good rapport with your customers.

But please take note of the majority of opinion on here, you are acting needy and desperate. You don't need to explain yourself with a sob story, all you will ever be viewed as is the guy who is nice, but needs constant validation. You are not the only guy in the world with problems Nathan.

My wife suffers with Fibromyalgia, she has spondylitis of the spine so she has ltd use of her leg, she also has Endometriosis, which she needed surgery 2 years ago to remove her womb, she has a walking stick, she is in constant pain. I have to help her daily with the kids..ect

My Daughter has Juvenile Uveitis with band keratopathy. She is under the care of 3 different specialist hospitals, The London Evlina, Oxford University Hosptial, and Frimley Park. She is on 1 methotrexate injection every week, which wipes out her immune system, she suffers with the side effects of that, and also on Adalimumab Injections every fortnight, which I have to administer.  We have several hospital appointments for both my daughter and my wife which is a challenge when you are running a business.

I have also have two Nephews with disabilitys, one has Downs Syndrome, and the other is Severely Autistic, that needs round the clock care. Not to mention my battle with depression over the years, which i am currently recovered from.

Now i would never use the ailments of my loved ones as an excuse for needing validation from people i barely know which is what you do, your customers are your customers Nathan, they are not your friends, they are not people you should be seeking sympathy from.

Now I run my business in a very regimented professional manner. I set my terms & conditions & stick to them. The price is the price no discounts, the dates are the dates, no excuses. My terms are my terms no need to tell everyone how bad my lot is, its inappropriate, unprofessional and unkind to your family.

So get a grip man.

So if im woRking in the rain, does that mean  im not allowed ten mins in the van having a coffee break??
You said it was raining SO you were having a break.
That says that it was a rain induced coffee break.
What's the difference between a rainy coffee break and non rainy coffee break?
Oh yeah, go to your website  ::)roll.

My apologies and ive just re read my opening post.  I should have made mention that its raining and ive been working and now having a coffe n writing on some cards. Perhaps if i had the coffee first i may have either had time to decide not to bother or perhaps not be hasty in writing and perhaps they may not have givennthe wrong mental image in peoples heads 😂😂

and yet here you are getting into a huff due to my response.
Yet please tell me where i look fir sympathy and tell my customers all my worries and concerns!   All the leaflet said which ur making reference to,  simply states due to family health im no longer collecting in the evening!    After many many years of doing so its a straight forward reason. Sure i could simply say i no longer collect. To be fair i dont think the customers give two hoots either way. Its just you lot.
Sorry to hear of your family situation but again mark!  Where did i say my problems are any bigger than the next mans??!  I was simply putting things into perspective as to a whole bigger picture than stresses of working as a window cleaner!

I may have woken on the wrong side of the bed, perhaps today. But who cares hey

I don't want to fall out with you over this, but I am simply observing your posts and what you tell your customers; and thanks for the apology for the stuff i deal with but i wasn't seeking one; i am making a point that you like to use your problems either with your perceived worthlessness (which isn't true, you are worth a lot more than you think, so stop being so apologetic) or family illness to control your customers, which is a bit lame tbh.

However...its up to you how you want to come across, not my problem. I'm only trying to help you see that you look desperate in general, as giving advice and help from one window cleaner to another..thats all. ::)roll

Its hard to accept sometimes, I know as I have had to take advice from people on here; but it sunk in, and I sucked it up and applied it and guess what...Its made things easier for me (thanks to odbodds)

But at the end of the day do what you like, its not like it affects me, just don't expect everyone to powder your backside and wipe your tremblin' lips every time you stick a post like this up.

No offence like..

I think the most important lesson to learn from all these posts is - if Nathan offers you a cup of coffee from his flask, say no.

Ok marc, i might take on board others opinions.
However i dont percieve myself that way at all.  Neither do my customers and from  one leaflet saying i dont collect due to family ill health, ones have built a lame picture in their heads of me. Fair enough, if thats what they want to imagine. It certainly beats the image of me having a coffee 😂😂.
I dont barter with my prices and never will. Yes my working pattern is effected by personal circumstances but whose doesnt!  Yes my wife tried committing suicide last week whilst my 2 youngest kids were down stairs and now my mother in law who has very similar conditions to ur mrs has to stay over as my wife cant be left on her own at moment and yes i have to regulary stop work n check in on them.  Am i after sympthony from you guys, who i  dont know.......erm NO.  Can i say simply say so just to get it of my chest, without it turning round and biting me in the ASS..... YES i can as non of you know me nor ones i know to let people who i dont want to know, know etc etc..... YES i can.
Do i tell my woes to my customers......NO.   do they know?  NO!

From one bleeding leaflet you lot depict such negativity its unreal.

Yes the word "work" looks like the word "wank" and now weve got the childish behaviour out the way, can we move on.

I choose to periodically remind customers, so be it!   Does it really matter if they take note or not. Does it heck!  However like all the debates, especially to do with either a diy van set up or van mounted n fitted and what nots......does the customer actually give a t#$$ as to what we have??   Absolutely not!!
Do other shiners.....haha of course they do for some strange reason!

Yes i expect stick from such a post, yes i do and often it comes right on que.  Do i care, not really but sometimes i will have a moan back.  Damn it spock, have emotions........erm yes i do.

Thats your problem Nathan you take everything toooo seriously on here.  You posted you got reply's, you didn't like  them and now your getting all wound by it all.
At the end of the day you do what you like with your customers and work its all trivial nonsense anyway.
i just hope you dont do a video of it all (not that ive ever watched one anyway)  ;D
