Hi guys, due to divorce and moving away at some point this n the future, I may need to sell my round.

I currently have about 400 customers with possible income of 38000 per year if all are done on time.

If I sold up, what would my round be worth?

Personally I would start at 10x and reduce it until someone buys it, but depends how desperate you are to sell and the quality

take at least 4k off for holidays/sick/bad weather days per year(5 weeks earnings)so your down to 34k(ish)

how long you ve been established will be a big factor and how long itll take to earn your 3k+ a month turnover.if its an easyish 4 or 5 day week working 4 or 5 hours a day will be a lot more attractive than  40+ hours a week hard slog to get the work cleaned....

if its mainly WFP and electronic payments then this will also make it more attractive IMO...

if your well established and been going 10 years or more then you should be looking at more than the average 3 x the monthly value....

sometimes if your struggling to sell a large round like yours its more attractive to sell bits of it off and split it into 3 or 4 rounds......

You'll be able to charge a great deal more if you sell it as a running business, ready to go, than as a list of names.

I’d have said it was worth a few k to someone on a minimum wage job but not much. Your prices are too low. Put all your prices up by 50% and see what’s left.

As Gomo said at the beginning, like anything it's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay. My guess would be it's worth a few thousand at best but I've never bought any work. If it is just basically a list of customers and they don't take a liking to the buyer for whatever reason, the customer(s) could go elsewhere, and they have effectively bought nothing.

To someone on a low income or maybe in a difficult area like the north east 38k a year even for a full weeks worth of work sounds attractive.

For others it's probably worth next to nothing as prices are too low.

I would look at what your actual business turnover was last year using your accounting records and bank statements and base any round valuations on that; instead of simply buying a list if contacts on a spreadsheet.

So you say you have 38k of customer work for sale? What was your actual business turnover for the last working year?

Say in 2017 you put through an actual turnover of £30k

To work out a good starting point to market the goodwill i would start at a multiple of 9:

Turnover/12*9 £22,000

But of course it doesn't mean you will get that.

ive bought 12 rounds in the last five years and paid 1x-5x per monthly value for them  depending on what there like so just put it up for sale and see what you get offered but be warned brace yourself for a load of nutters ringing you up offing you 5p for it

In general a business is worth about 3-5 x annual profit. From your £38k, take away the salary of someone to do it (say £25-30K) then take all your other costs off and multiply by 3 to 5.
