seriously, ive tried all the sprays and gels, tried freezing it, used special gum piercers, no  real success with any of them mate...
steamers?    not tried, ive seen a machine for sale on here i thin k for about £600  which removes gum, if i thought i could get such a machine and it would do the job i would get one and charge a pro rata price on top of cleaning the carpet, is there such thing?

Oh I so agree on blu-tack! Bloody impossible on any carpet (more so on the type used in schools around here!)

Has anyone tried the "bazooka"

Is it any good for gum

I'd agree, Citrus Gels are probably the simplest method, dab on work in asnd leave. Steamer will speed it up. Its basically Latex Rubber.

High temp with upholstery tool either softens it up or removes some, then finish off with Detak chewing gum remover which at about £13/5litres is tremendous value.

i tell the client that i can clean the carpets but if they want the gum/blue tac completely  removed then it will be £1 per piece, most say just clean over them

Gel and a truck mount I just steam and blast the heat and pressure removes most first time.
