lunch breaks what do u opt for
« on: April 19, 2017, 02:22:55 pm »
My round is segmented into 5 sections and mostly i eat a large breakfast to see me through day and family meal when back home. This eay when im working im not breaking the flow by stopping for food. For me this works great and have been doing so for quite a while now.
But this new part of my round is near a tobys carvery so atleast once a month i break it up with a this;

Even get ten mins on this forum lol.
So what about everyone else, what do you do for lunch breaks

If I am out for the day (9am or earlier until 3pm or later) I nearly always take a packed lunch and a flask of coffee (cold fizzy drinks in the summer).

This usually consists of:

2 cheese and pickle rolls (sometimes Ham and Tomato)
1 packet of crisps
1 Apple
1 Pear
1 individual Bakewell tart

I start this at about 12.15 to 12.45 in the van listening to either Jeremy Vine, Radio 4 or Radio Bristol. I also check for any messages too. I take about 20 minutes.

The main exception is when I do a factory once a month which takes about 3 hours and I start at about 8 am and have a late full English breakfast and a mug of tea at about 10 am in their canteen for the princely subsidised sum of £2.50.
It's a game of three halves!

Steak pie from Gerrard's bakery. Best steak pies ever. I've even got a pie loyalty card with them. Buy 20 pies get 1 free.

always a packed lunch and a 20-30 min lunch break.

sandwich of some sort(turkey, ham, beef or cheese with salad)on wholemeal bread/wrap(only the best meat you can buy)

pot of yoghurt, cereal bar(usually protein flapjack)and an apple

flask of tea and a bottle of water

in winter ill take a hot flask of soup instead of a sandwich occasionally.
price higher/work harder!

Tescos car park with a packed pasta salad. Love it. Reminds me of when I used to park up and down a bottle of vodka.  ;D

Depends what custards want to offer me during the day as I can spend a few hours on/at a single property.  Therefore most times I get quite well fed and watered so stopped taking food and drink out with me.

Best one was a full English from an old boy next door in the middle of nowhere. Mind I did offer to clear his gutters for free whilst doing a full exterior property clean for a landlord at the time. That  included  FSG's, windows & doors, conservatory in/out, paving, patio areas etc so I was there for a wee while.

I could make a long list of what I've been offered but that would just make me feel hungry. lol

Sandwiches on the hoof usually....don't like stopping......maybe a coffee if offered,
Rather work through and finish early and miss traffic.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

I dont like stopping, thats why i generally just stop for 5-10 mins to eat a sarnie then crack on. Stop for much longer and i lose my rhythm and slow down and cant be arsed etc.

Start at 8:30 and go like a man possesed until i run out of steam somewhere around 2pm
