Nope, think i might call it a day today and try again tomorrow.
Not long after previous post im working up the street. So usually lay hose up middle of road if working some distance on a street. So no idiots park on it. However after spending what seemed like ages fixing my equipment back uo and replacing some parts, i thought i'ld best place hose as close to curbs as possible. So even if a car oarks up, it shouldnt park on hose and i can lift onto pavement and carryone working. But no, an idiot driver parks half on pavement half on road. Its a wide road, so theres no obstruction if parked normally on road. So had to unconnect my fixings (thankfully quick release) to pull hose under n thru car so i can carry on working.
Not a good day at all.
Thinking go home, warm up with a laphroaig whiskey and watch kids play and try again tomorrow

Haha, as im taking 5mins out after sorting back of van out. A chap (polish not that it matters), jumps out his house n knocks on van window. Could you clean front of my house for a fiver?
I sadly declined, explaining it would be more to clean as a one off. But hey, thats me being a snob apparantly. ....dont figure

Now im sure ones are gonna tell me that a fiver is well worth it. Yep if your desperate for money.  Others will tell me a whole lot more to charge and what tbey would charge if this is in their particular rounds......which is also fine.

Nathan the decision you made was the correct one for you. I also would have declined it but i reckon the trad guy who cleans in my street would have grabbed it as he cleans whole houses for less.

I mean you can decline it or think hey 10 mins work that's my fish and chips paid for on the way home.

There's no right or wrong prices.
I personally want go keep growing and pushing the pricing as much as possible but as is apparent others like to clean houses for low prices and never grow or have aspirations.

I couldn't care less what others charge, in fact that house yis said was 7.50 I would just smile to myself knowing I do those for 15 or so and think I'm glad I lm not him.

Is anyone else having a bad day or is it just me today. As im loading up, a chap belts side mirror as hes going by. Thank fully he stopped to tell me, we have a look and able to sort it out, so that wasnt too bad, but on top of everything else......its been a long day.

sounds dear to me !!!!!!  daughter gets the same done for a fiver in darlington , the other daughter gets a 6 bed house and a massive conny all for 6 pounds done in newton aycliffe very cheap up there window cleaners

Some window cleaners do take the mick with prices my neighbour asked me  tonight if I could clean the windows on her place of work I asked her how many windows seven she said 6 ft by 1 ft wide I fell on my backside when she told me how much other window cleaner used to charge £40  omg . I think he used to live down south .

I used to have a customer that was from down south lived in a house with five windows I live in Yorkshire normal price would be around a fiver he said I know what you charge for houses this size ten pounds he said but gave me twenty pounds a clean I cried when he moved

A fiver is top end for fish and chips round here!

My local is £3.50 for fish and chips, one down road is about £4 and the one we call "posh" is a fiver, it has a drive thru etc, we never go there

Dont buy the dearest but certainly dont buy the cheapest. Why not??? Because if you buy the cheapest what do you actually expect, you expect it not to last, infact you expect it to be cheap. Be that trainers or fish n chips   

So be honest, what do expect if you pay peanuts for a job done?? If its any different to monkeys work, then i'll be very suprised.

I am up in West Yorkshire , (birkenshaw , Gomersal)  I know there is other windows cleaner charging less than myself  but I find some of  the houses they clean tend to be ones that I and other window cleaners have either sacked or will not do as  they will not paid the going rate.

It all depends on where your at, I know there are people in my area who wont pay my price and the people who will pay it
are getting harder to find.
Now does a newbie with very little work sit on his hands waiting for the same or better priced work as others are getting or does he take on those looking for a cheaper price ?
Its very easy to be snobby when you have already built a round and forget that every round built makes it just that little
bit harder for the guy who comes next to do the same.
Its the same with this self worth nonsense, its a lot easier to realise your self worth and be more confident if your not under
threat of losing the roof over you head.

I've found generally speaking  trad guy's tend to charge less than wfp guy's as they don't have the added set up and running costs.

A fiver a job to a trad guy walking a compact round be it by trad poles or ladders is worth more to them overheads wise than someone using a wfp that's for sure. Hence why wfp guys tend to price higher to cover the added cost.

At the end of the day customers don’t really give a fig how their windows are cleaned if they are just looking for the cheapest price.

In that case, you would want to make as much money as you can. So charging very little and working your back side off all day, would be a whole lot better getting a good price for those sane jobs in the first place.
How long did it take you to realise that. Many a times ive priced up a job and had my hand snatched off. Then you realise that you could have asked for more and still get the job. It doesnt take long to realise that and do something about it. Its nothing to do with being snobby, its about running a business not a charity. A business so you can keep a roof over your head, food on the table and look after your family and i have a large family as ive posted in the past. So again its about mind set, even for the ones building a round. Yes i have four well established rounds, but i get enquiries from word of mouth in new areas. Now do i go in cheap to get established and build a new round. NOT at all, i go in with confidence of my service and reputation and get the price i want.  Which is just the same as a newbie in your example starting off. No difference in my mind and if i and others can do it, tben newbies in compact rounds can do it as well. That is my point..
