How much work does a sign written van get you?
« on: November 25, 2016, 11:13:13 am »
Getting a new van but not sure whether to bother paying to get it sign written. If I do this will be my first signed van. Just wondering how much work it would generate me on average per month?

Just do it, for a few hundred ££ it's worth it. It's hard to quantify exactly how much it can get you but it will more than pay for itself.

Also, it helps to keep your brand recognised in the area. Customers or prospective customers will see your leaflets/business cards, receipts, website, van... It's good for your branding to be seen as much as possible.

I'm fortunate (or not - dependant on how I look at it) to work all over the country.

Plymouth for ten days at the beginning of this month and came back up from nine days in Wimbledon last night.

Second van is new and not sign written.

When I go anywhere in the sign written van I get website hits that I can pinpoint down to the town worked in.

Get the website address as high as possible on the van and big.

People can see what you do because you're doing it. I think a website is better than a phone number.

Sighn written van shows you are professional  and is free advertising it payed for its self over and over again , people see you doing a good job and then ring up for a quote I find the latest craze is that they take a photo of the van with your details rather than write a phone no or website down

ive picked up all manner of jobs and continue to do so(window cleaning,f/s/g,conny roofs and solar panel cleaning)just by being seen out and about.the van usually stops the "are you a window cleaner?" questions! ;D
price higher/work harder!

when starting out or doing some thing new keep an eye on what its making you , that way you will know whats working for you ,

 write in your dairy on the back page the £ of the job and a letter next to it so tell you where it came from

v= van
w= web site

ect ect and at the end of the year it quick and easy to say where you getting the most work , sounds simple but it works and you shock yourself once you have the hard data in front of you to see

Sign written van definitely pays for itself.
My last van was sign written from day 1, had it 5 years and had all manner of enquiries from it, from walk ups to people ringing me to say they had just seen my van and would like a quote.

Had my current van for just over a year and decided not to get it sign written as to busy. There has been a clear difference in the amount of walk ups and enquiries.

Without your 'brand' on show people don't know who you are and are immediately less likely to trust you. You could just be some pikey from the nearest caravan park.

Because of my change of direction in the new I'm definitely getting my van sign written again, along with new website, new logo etc.
You don't need to go all out on sign writing, something simple such as your logo, what you do and contact details is all that's needed to bring in work.

To be honest its hard to know how much work you will generate from it, remember you will also have the cost of removing it
when you go to sell the van, its not easy removed and the paint work will be a different colour under the removed wrap so may
need repairing.
The majority of my work comes from recommendations but I couldn't honestly say not having the van sign written would make
a difference, I wont be getting it again with my next van.

Did you ever get a call from the Rozzers saying they'd seen your van in the red light disrict?  ;D ;D

My experience was that signwriting paid for itself before the van even hit the road - - the secretary in the signwriting place saw it & when I went to pick up the van she asked me to quote for a job (Which I got) that covered the cost of the signwriting and a few quid to spare.  ;D

It is the best return on investment you can get in marketing IMO - considering the signs last 7 years minimum, its only about £50 a year if you think about it....
