Depending on where you are its not as bad as you think.
My bill has gone from about £370 un metred to about £550 metred, yearly.
Iv setup my own meter on my system to offset any water for business purposes against my tax bill.

rain water harvest
flow controller
uni valve or similar

That's about it really, all you can do is is conserve as much water as possible - make every liter count !

You need to get a seperate meter. For the water u are using for cleaning windows. They will then be able to claim back bone return to Sewer charge.
I've just done it with Northumbrian water and they were very helpful.

Check with the water company first - some don't insist on a separate meter and will accept your estimation of how much water you transport away from your premises.

Hi Chris, I will be moving to a house with a meter soon. What system do you use? What is your production rate? How much water do you use a day?

I use 500 litres pure a day at production rate of about 2:1 so I filter 1000 litres a day, through a twin boosted 4021 system.

Surely if your waste/pure ratio is 2:1 that should be 1500lt per day?

Carry a spare reel of hose in the van for those conservatory and gutter jobs.
