CORRECT WAY TO USE TRADITIONAL WINDOW CLEANING POLE
Using a pole incorrectly, not only awkward and restrictive.
You generally end up with sore shoulders/arms.
Find most pole connection have set angle on them to put you cleaning tools on
So you have to adjust to that angle.
But with an adjustable angle on a pole you can now adjust the pole to the way you want use it as shown in this video.

It helps if a cleaning tool, such as squeegee, applicator or cloth are attached to the end of the pole 😂
To climb mount fuji you must first find a path

Yes I would agree your technique is spot on, and is also very relevant to us Wfp'ers.
I developed bad technique from poling by having my leading arm too high which over time strains the shoulder as you pointed out.
I've had to be mindful of this ever since and find it's so much easier on the body if the leading arm is kept at shoulder height or below.

This is the beauty of having an angle adapter on your pole.
It allows you to adjust the angle to the way that you find it more comfortable easier.
Also you can extend you pole a bit further making it even easier as in video. :)

And notice how easy/quick  it is to swap out the scrubber /squeegee  using the QL connection on pole. ;)
