Yes I would agree your technique is spot on, and is also very relevant to us Wfp'ers.I developed bad technique from poling by having my leading arm too high which over time strains the shoulder as you pointed out.I've had to be mindful of this ever since and find it's so much easier on the body if the leading arm is kept at shoulder height or below.
