What will be next after wfp?
« on: December 29, 2015, 07:42:20 pm »
There's been a lot of talk on here recently about wfp not being all its cracked up to be. In this fast moving world I'm sure the next innovation is just around the corner that will 'revolutionise' window cleaning the same way wfp did.

Watching TV last night I saw a long advert for the HD steam cleaner, where they were steam cleaning windows.
Got me thinking  if this was possible on a large scale, using pure water, so a 'pure steam' cleaner so to speak. No brushes, maybe just a soft pad to scrub any stains, and let the steam do all the work. It would literally melt almost everything off the glass whilst using a lot less water to clean.
Although I'm not sure if this method would be safe to use on the rubbber seal around the edge of the window, perhaps some sort of guard would solve this.
I wonder if anyone else has any ideas or predictions on what the future holds..

LSD. Low Sun Disclaimer cleaning. Nothing will get glass up as though there is no glass there.
We look at them, they look through them.

I thought about this many moons ago and yes I've used steamers on glass and plastics before with good results mainly on deep cleans though.

I can't see it being the next big thing to take the place of trad or wfp myself somehow. Not unless someone comes up with a practical solution for window cleaners that makes it as easy/safe to use and just as quick.

In the 1980's I was asked by Karcher to test and report back on a  vacuum window cleaning system. It was sensational!!
It was a fore runner to the Karcher battery window cleaner.
The vac was a standard wet and dry vac, but without going into details, it leaves everything being used today in the shade (speed and quality of finish).
I am sure that this will one day take over.
No exceptional water demands , no ladders.
Ever since the introduction of the battery job, I have been expecting a launch of the professional kit.

G & M,
When you are making serious money, time is not an issue.
These large firms have many products in the pipe line, they launch when they think the time is right.

Time is money, time is also precious - yes you could be on stupid money but when you look back and realise you haven't seen your kids grow up.... Then time IS an issue

Maybe Windows will change in the future?

Most new builds now have those grey frames that cosmetically last longer than white upvc.

So maybe glass will change? Yes dirt is dirt but maybe glass changes, so that is so dull or frosted it doesn't show up so much.

Force fields instead of windows - a bit like how hull breaches are temporarily repaired on Star Trek.

Roll another one.

Your going to get better tools and better ways of filtering and saving water but as far as being able to clean from the ground
safely is concerned then wfp isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future if ever.
Better tools have made it easier quicker and safer but from day one window cleaning hasn't changed you loosen the dirt from the glass/frames and remove it, should you use vinegar and brown paper or filtered water and a brush the results are the same clean windows.
I honestly think the next big breakthrough in window cleaning will only be a benefit to the customer in other words it will be something that means they no longer need us,but I cant see it happening in most of our lifetimes so no need to panic.
