van in garage for MOT repairs(it failed on back brakes,a few bulbs and a leaky injector today)

I remember when you posted previously about your van smoking that I said there could be an injector problem.  ;)

andy the MOT guy has deemed the van dangerous due to fuel leaking from the 4th injector down the engine!my mechanic told him its not the van but the window cleaner who drives it!hopefully theyll sort it out properly this time! ::)roll ;D

Like I keep saying if your going to go out and clean in stormy weather which is up to ourselves then just put the
cleaned today slip through the door and forget about the clean, the end result will be the same and you wont look such a fool.
If I was heading out today that's what I would be doing, tip pick properties where the customers are not at home.

Depends on your definition of fool?

Ill be finished today's work for about 4:30 and home knowing I'll have  x amount paid into my account over the next few days from today's customers.

I could of course decided to stay at home and not earned a penny, but in my opinion that is the "foolish" option of the two.

Hope your enjoying Jeremy Kyle.

Maybe your not reading my post right, when I say fool I mean bothering to clean the windows when they are going to be
as dirty as they where in a few hours.
So basically you put in all that effort when you didn't need to, if the outcome is going to be the same why not just charge
the customers for doing nothing.
I'm not saying you shouldn't clean if you want to or need to in stormy weather just be smart about it.

Just got in from doing a bungalow inside and out. It was blowing a gale with showers.

The customer was delighted with the clean, although after cleaning the insides I found the need to clean a couple of the outsides again which were dirty again.

Back home now for the day. Maybe I am a fool in the eyes of some (as if I care) for either trying or admitting defeat, but I am happy to have given it a go, and at least my money was earned honestly.

So you have told your customers that you only guarantee your work until you finish the job, if not how have you
done an honest days work ?
All you have done is hope that your customers will be too stupid to notice or to scared to complain, just because you have
went through the motions doesn't make you any more honest than if you had done it the way I suggested.
You have admitted that you noticed some of the window where dirty again on this job because you cleaned the insides but don't
care about all the others you have done today.
Not honest enough to go back to check them and clean again if necessary.

We've been out today to do a pre-booked clean on a large property we do on a regular basis.

After we'd finished I went inside to check what they looked like. The upstairs windows were questionable on just one side although not atrocious by any means. Any spotting on them would probably go unnoticed. Probably.

However, we'll go back tomorrow to redo the offending windows. It'll take us all of 15 minutes to do. I'd rather we had worked that way instead of earning nothing at all.

So what will happen if you have to redo them all ? lets be honest nobody is talking here about a bit of rain and wind
if we stopped because of that we would all be in trouble.
I cleaned my windows this morning and they where totally filthy at about 1pm I mean they looked as if they had not been
cleaned in 6 months, really noticeable.
Would you recommend that we should clean on even if the windows are going to end up like that ?

We wont have to redo them all, I checked them once they were dry, the downstairs ones were all fine on both sides of the house. It was only the upstairs on one side of the property that there was a slight discrepancy.

Do what you want mate. Im just saying what we did and what the result was like. Its your business, run it the way you want.

I really wanted to do windows today. Sun was out, looked a nice windy day. Set off and the wind was like SILLY. I decided NO. Not sure about dust blowing on wet windows, because a few estates were out of the way. More like, I didn't think the water would touch the glass to rinse. Didn't risk it. If it was wind and not storms, maybe. My friend who has a massive round and 3 workers, does it in all weather

Where did I say that I will only guarantee my work until I finish the job? The customer (who was in at the time and with whom  I was chatting at length) had said how delighted he was with the quality of my work. I myself noticed that some windows needed to be redone, so did them off my own volition.   Pray tell me how that is being dishonest?

How many others did I say I have done today?  Read my post again and you will see that I didn't. However, the simple answer is ... none.  I visited another customer twice (booked specifically for today) to  suggest leaving them until the weather improves. I am trad, so ladder work was going to be out of the question anyway. The first customer was happy to see me, and happy to have his windows cleaned today, and if he calls me back to reclean them, I will, free of charge.

Pick the bones out of that if you will, and then compare this to your suggestion to leave a slip in the door saying the windows have been cleaned when they haven't.

I said be smart, obviously if there's a bird turd on the glass then you will need to clean that off.
