Some wfp boys cant clean properly when its dry let alone wet or windy!
They try to go so fast that windows are spotting due to poor rinsing.
I have picked up work from these lads before now.

So know your round, refrain from cleaning exposed properties that you know damn well will look like crap after a day and do the ones that are more sheltered.
We must have very different businesses/rounds.

My work is split into days/runs. I don't go into the same area twice in my working month.

If I did then It would be less efficient and earnings/time keeping would suffer.

I couldn't imaging driving all over the place for less exposed houses when it's poor weather, and visiting the same area multiple times during the month. If i had to do  that I probably would just give up and sit at home watching Jeremy Kyle like the rest of you.

sean how do you think i can afford luxury holidays every year in 5 star hotels?

own 2 vehicles, a van for work and a car for leisure?

can afford extreme poles?

can buy what i want when out shopping(within reason!)and afford to eat out in nice restaurants a few times a week?

.....its not by having a day off when the weathers bad thats for sure! ;D ;D
Where's what's best for the customer in all this?

Everybody probably has a different business / round.
You put forward a question to a scenario, I just answered from my working perspective.
e.g
Monday fine and sunny - seafront properties due, but Tuesday gale force winds and a high tide.
So I swap Wednesdays or Thursdays work to Monday because its 5 miles inland and do the seafront jobs later in the week when the storm has passed. Can't see how an adaptable approach such as that is going to effect my efficiency or earnings.

If that works for you Mr Bitt then fair play.

It would still mean too much hassle for me, and would still mean taking a day off for bad weather.

First complaint yesterday! I don't normally work in bad weather. Forecast was better than Monday but the wind just got stronger and stronger, as I was out thought I'd carry on!! Mistake!!!!
I reckon it's the Rock Salt getting whipped up by the wind,it's ground down to a really fine dust and it's everywhere now just after all this ice and snow.

That's true what you say about the rock salt. I clean some property's on main roads and this month the windows have been covered in orange dust from all the grit.

It wasn't a mistake if you earned say £200 and only one complaint which you rectified no doubt. Staying home and earning nothing would have been a mistake.

I am there to clean the dirt from the previous X amount of weeks. Not to clean the windows for the future.
I like that.

If we only cleaned when weather was good and going to stay good for a while then the customer would be paying American prices - they get them cleaned maybe once or twice a year at a few hundred dollars for the clean.

I had a day off yesterday as up to date and redid my website - weather was good no wind or rain - cleaned my windows as needed some photo's for web update - this morning I can see dust on them .... if Im sad and go looking for it.

Most customers don't even bother to check our work once weve been cleaning for a while as they have other stuff going on in their lifes so their windows takes 0.0000000001% of their thinking time whilst it prob takes about 50% of our thinking time up.

First cleans a defo no no in crap weather for obvious reasons

 :)

How do you know it wasn't a mistake, do you know what his customers are thinking ? I offer my customers one thing and that's
when they pick up my clean slip if they do happen to look at their windows then they will be clean at that moment in time.
If the weather conditions mean that this wont be the case then I wont clean them on that day, the majority of customers
don't want the hassle of complaining they just bad mouth your reputation to others.
Would totally accept these posts if it was hard to pull back a few lost days because of bad weather and if the same guys
who keep making them didn't keep going on about the best way to succeed is to offer the customer a better service.

Sorry but don't agree. I never work more than 3 days each week so I don't need or want to work in bad weather.I just re-schedule until it's fine for me and fine for the customer. Some of the posts on here show how many just seem totally selfish and greedy, boasting about how much they earn and spend. As someone said "Where's the customer's interests in all this?"
I want more money and I don't give a **** if I've done a good job or not.
Yet the one's who bang on about it the most are the ones who "pride" themselves on giving a "professional service."

But what if they are away for a few days? Or a week? Then they see your slip and also notice there windows are dusty?

Or worse still.....what if the cat hides the slip under the Matt and the customer only notices it a few days later after some storms? I think the worry will probably keep you up at night.

You make a good point. If by choice or otherwise you only work three days a week then that is fair enough. Equally, if you are full time it is fine to work. It is unreasonable though of the customer to dictate what weather they are happy for the windows to be cleaned in. The reality is of course that the vast majority of customers don't care. If for some reason the finish is poor because of the weather it is perfectly reasonable of the customer to expect me to rectify.

The other thing is that if you employ, you have to send your employees out to work in all weathers. In driving rain we take cover until it passes, but in anything else we carry on.

To blame the vision I feel is harsh , lol ...
It's been fine for you mostly  for say 8 weeks or more , then you clean in the winds and then say it's the vision .
I think the WIND is the big fundamental factor

Not quite so given the facts I know about Dazmond.

He's not had complaints from working in the wind before (or at least hasn't posted about them).  Now he has.  He's not a newbie; he's been WFP for about four or five years.  The one thing that isn't constant from his normal way of working (that we know about) is  that he's using Vision.  So, I would suggest that it just might be Vision causing the problem.

I'm not saying it is.  However, if I were selling a product, I might be tempted to test to see if there really is a problem with the combination of wind and Vision.

wet and windy days as in blowing a gale are the only days I take
off due to weather...these happen so infrequently its not worth worrying
about.

Worked today dry and wind gusting...simply dried glass after poling
as normal perfect results.
