Employee leaves to start new round
« on: February 06, 2015, 07:43:28 am »
So a 6monther has left, moved 400 miles away the next day, and decides to start his own "window cleaning business" - and his reason was that he didnt get paid enough for what he cleans!

I say good luck!! welcome to the world of expenses hahaha

And so he will earn more money - but will take a while to get there.  Plus he will have to do all the behind the scenes work too.

No need to be condescending about it. Truth is you'd probably have done the same. Would you have had the good grace to move 400 miles away though? I know I wouldn't.

This is one of the things that puts me off of employing.
You're basically training up your future competition.
Any one with half a brain would do the same thing having seen how much money they turn over in a day, only to hand most of it to the guvnor.

This is done by so many and we always discuss the glass cleaning as if it was the end all of this job.But there is so much more to cleaning window that is never discussed. The income is plastered across this forum, but there are many pitfalls before you really make good money. Building a good round is not that easy as it takes persistent afford.  The winter is a big pitfall with customer leaving, none payment. cold weather and the list goes on. etc.

Trust me, this guy has no chance...No money, no vehicle, no place to live - has said on a number of occasions how easy this industry is and how he could do it better...better off without IMO!

That's a good wage, but some are destined to become self employed, others never, even if they were on minimum p/h

Wouldn't have made it into anything like a buisness, you might have been lucky that he's left

never let any employee have access to your customer list .  without it,they cant devastate you, with it they surely can

i sacked an ex employee so right away he starts up , imitatin me,same colour van ,saying im his brother-in-law and canvassin my customers.

but he hadnt my list so after a week or so he forgot who my customers were  and was doomed from then on

That's as maybe and I agree anyone can clean a window/ start a round.
The skill is to keep it running and or growing for years to come.
It ain't for everybody.
