A similar pole to Gardiners but with a better clamp would get my custom, them smart clamps
have to be the worst I have ever used.
My everyday Gardiner 18 footer has the old clamps and they are a joy to use and still going strong after
4 years.
I'm dreading the day when I have to replace it.
I have been using my 30 footer this week for fascia cleans and the new type clamps are a nightmare.
When I first used them I thought they were faulty but my mate has a couple of new Gardiner poles and his
are the same.
The thing is the Gardiner pole is very hard to beat in every other way so I would say there are a lot like myself
who just put up with them.

I used to think the same thing with the new clamps, but once you get used to them they really are better than the old ones. You never need to tighten them and the pole sections never turn. Been using mine for a good 9 months now.

I've been using SLXs since the day they were released with all clamp versions up to the smart clamps. Two weeks ago I upgraded my current SLX to smart clamps & I think they are outstanding!! Such a clever innovation & a dream to use. I find them better than any other clamp which preceded them.

At under £200 including a brush I'm considering these instead of buying new sections for the slx.

Some people, especially seank, can't be pleased Alex, so I wouldn't waste your time

The smart clamps are great, hardly ever have to tighten them.  Much better then the old version.

have to say i love the later clamps to the older ones myself, ive never had to adjust mine either apart from when i take the poles apart to clean and retape, ive not cleaned my slx in months and just the other day i cleaned all the crap out of it and retaped it with the proper gardiner tape they come with rather than electrical tape and it feels like using a new pole again!!

The smart clamps are great, hardly ever have to tighten them.  Much better then the old version.

Grow up Chris that post was about the mark one smart clamp which he has improved because of negative feedback, so
there must have been some truth in what I and others said.

the new smart clamps r very good mch beta than the old clamps and the mk1 smart clamps that used to flop about in fact the flopy ones were terrible  the next step ide like to c is to get shot of the stop tape and have a raised end insted

Hi Darran,

Alex replied to a thread on another forum recently. The window cleaner was told that they (Viper poles) are the same as Gardiner poles.

Just to clarify - the poles that the Cleaning Warehouse import are not the same as Gardiner poles, neither the tube sections nor the clamp bodies. However, the clamp bodies have been designed to look very similar to our smart clamps despite not working like them. If they are being sold as the same as Gardiners then this would be a case of mis-selling and a purchaser would be entitled to a refund from the Cleaning Warehouse.

He also states that, Yes I have examined the poles in great detail.

Another poster also reported a fellow cleaner bought one and has reported that it isn't wearing too well.

    My friend has one and said its not wearing well at all already! Gonna have a look when i next see him.


I also notice that what is being sold as a 22' pole is actually the equivalent of an 18' pole in real terms.
