It is all a massive con!! The drug companies are taking us all for a ride. It should all be about prevention not cure, the human race eats crap food which is full of poisons every single day, and then wonders why so many get ill!! The ALS "charity" spent half of its 24 million dollar income last year on running itself, and the people who hold the top five posts in the organisation took over a million of that between them!! Your money is just making rich people richer, you mugs!!!
I reckon if someone discovered a cure for a type of cancer they'd make significantly more than
24m dollars a year. And it's not all about money.
Your views on this are just ridiculous.

Guys there are cures for cancer, even the most aggressive types can be cured if found early enough.
I'm sure that most cancer survivors wouldn't call the guys who donated to cancer research mugs.

There is significantly more money griff in developing treatments for managing
illnesses like cancer Hiv etc than a outright cure.

However that still wouldn't stop me from donating

Possibly but treatments are still good. And they might just easier to discover.
But what I mean is, cures are not being avoided because it could affect revenue. That revenue would just be too good to turn down.

You're right.  You can see the effect of all the "poisons" you eat every day in this graph of UK life expectancy at birth over three decades.  Clearly we're all becoming more and more ill.  It's there in the graph.  Look.

I think you are totally missing the point! You go back to the early 80's in your chart, well human beings have been around for millions of years, and they are getting unhealthier by the year, we are not supposed to be so sickly, it is because we fill our bodies with toxins every single day. There are countless cases of races of hunter gatherers who lived healthy lives and were virtually disease free, only to be Westernised and take up our diet and lifestyle, which resulted in them being introduced to heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer etc etc We don't need a cure, we need to look at our lifestyles and start living the way nature intended us to.

Yet again you are missing the point!!100 years ago is nothing when you think that us Humans have been around for millions of years,  our problems started over 10,000 years ago when agriculture began. Before that we lived as nature intended us to, as hunter gatherers and had done for millions of years. Our bodies adapted to that lifestyle, and our Paleolithic cousins were bigger, fitter, stronger and far healthier than people today, death from diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart disease were almost unheard of, they also had larger brains than people today, particuarly certain members of this forum!!  ;)

"Getting unhealthier by the year" yet living longer than ever in human history.  You're a real star. A diamond.

From now on, rest assured that I'll be giving your posts exactly the amount of attention they deserve.

Not meaning to be picky Hoggy but stone age man wasn't our cousins
they are our ancestors :)

I understand what you are trying to say comparing paeolithic to neolithic
man and physical strength etc but nature gave us an adaptive brain and
developing agriculture was part of our natural evolution.Nature gave us
the ability to develop and evolve.

As for cancers not being prevalent in the stone age,you can put
this down to the fact that man didn't live much past our physical
peak which is around thirty and most cases of cancer occur in people
older than this

We are definitely better off today matey,i will take our current lifestyle
over the previous which must of been for the most part a hard and miserable
existence.

There is some truth in the unhealthier bit,yes we do live longer but the fact
is after forty years of age especially we are on a spiral downwards physically
and in some cases mentally.I come across plenty of people in their late seventies
and eighties who are living on a cocktail of drugs which yes keep them alive
but you have to question the quality of life.

If you are one of the rare breed who have great genetics longevity is a generally
a good thing.

Personally I will be happy tp live the old three score and ten and disappear
and earlier if my quality of life is poope :)

Gary my old mate, I'm not going to argue on this one anymore as it is pointless trying to help people with closed minds!! And I am not including you in that comment buddy, but I believe that we can learn a lot from our "ancestors" and I challenge you to give up the western diet for a month and only eat the way hunter gatherers ate in the past, I promise you that you will feel amazing. There are plenty of books and websites on the subject.  :)
