For me fan jets give a far superior clean and rinse, you cover more glass with water quicker and get better sheeting of water down the window.
But you need the right fans, gardiners are ok, lumark are excellent hose brass ones you can get are rubbish.
I could strongly disagree with all the negative comments about spotting and overspray we get none of that with fan jets.
Some of the problems may lie elsewhere, ie, the quality of the pole used, slx nice light rigid of some bendy fibreglass thing, aquadaptor, aqua tap for instant control or are you fumbling about for a tap somewhere sited on the hose behind you, adjustable goose neck for the correct angle or make do with a fixed angled gooseneck
I've seen Windy's using fibreglass poles and no matter what jets are fitted they barely hit the glass and barely the building!
It's like east and west and never the twain shall meet or acknowledge the other, use what gives you the most confidence and that will help give you the best results, trial fan jets for a couple of weeks then give an honest assessment of how they worked for you
But in short fans are better than pencil jets 😜😝😄
